    That?s a given for a college athlete.

But?..with Cohen we had a vibe and an identity. We were tough. I don?t feel like we have had that since 2021. In fact, I know we haven?t.

I don?t want to fire Lemonis though. Baseball isn?t the same as the other big 2. It?s more chess on a field.
But that is the thing. All those other programs get the same amount of kids to the majors. So town atmosphere is what matters sometimes and we lack in those areas for 18-22 yr olds.

Another top portal arm off the board. Probably best to just assume we aren't getting a kid if Arkansas, LSU, Tennessee, and Florida are involved. The Lemon Head ain't winning head to head battles with those guys.
    We never wanted him ***

Next time a National Championship is won, don't spend the offseason wooing Luke Hancock back to Starkville from a Substitute Teacher gig in Booneville, Mississippi. Next time, reload like crazy.

No that was in 2022. In 2021, our fan base spent all off season telling the returning players their shit didn’t stink and telling them they were gods gift to baseball.

True. Not sure I wouldn?t go play for V even if I was from Starkville.

I have no clue if you are talking about Vitello or ladies. Both would probably be tough to turn down if you compared them to Starkville.

Vitello. But yeah. Honestly the south is full of hotties.

    Their recruiting won?t drop.

Interesting portal pitcher...Ruger Riojas from UTSA. No clue of any interest but you have to think we'd be in contact with him.

10-3 with 7 SV. 75 Ks to only 18 BBs in just under 70 innings.

Man, I'll be honest.....I'm at the point now where I only expect California Penal League portal transfers. And I hate it, but now, if we do get a guy, my first question will be "why didn't anyone else want him? Cause I know we didn't beat anyone out for him!"

Do we really, truly know how many we've actually offered funds to and truly recruited and lost?

Mershon looks to be gone. Going to need to find another MIF along with AT LEAST one more bat and 3-4 arms.

    Mershon is gone.

Looking like we only have to endure one more year of Lemonis

Cupp has a higher ceiling than Mershon. If he improves and stays healthy, he's an upgrade. And that's not a knock on Mershon. It's a statement of how good most think Cupp is and will be.

The hope was Westburg, but he's not that offensively. I'd take Mershon everyday offensively. It's going to be ugly next season.

It's not even July yet. Let's wait til we get guys enrolled before we start the doom and gloom. Or hell, let's at least get through the draft.

And again, comparing Cupp and Westburg's freshman years is not that much difference except Westburg was healthier

    Cupp- 66 ABs, 17 H, 4 2Bs, 13 RBIs. .258 avg, 14 Ks, 11 BBs

    Westburg- 121 ABs, 30 H, 11 2Bs, 2 HRs, 30 RBIs. .248 avg, 35 Ks, 10 BBs

I don't really see how you can blanket a statement and say he's not Westburg offensively. Westburg has double the ABs and about double the production. Cupp was also more patient at the plate. Now there's no doubt Westburg was a freak so I'm also not saying he is a Westburg clone because those just don't come around often. But I think it's too early to write him off.

Didn't touch the field much at all in SEC play, so no way to get better there. He's coming back after some injuries with a lot of question marks outside his defense. Losing Mershon will be massive downgrade offensively next season at SS.

I am not feeling it either. We are just delaying the inevitable. At least a new head coach will give fans optimism similar to what Lebby is doing. I wonder if Lebby can help Lemonis recruit.

He didn’t touch the field because he was injured. Again, we will see. Interesting to see the dominos that fall from this Schloss move.

The portal should be full of P5 players because of the chain reaction to Texas hiring Jim Schlossnagle but then again we have Lemonis

I think it is the next domino to fall that will be the real fallout. A&M and Texas will have some transfers but I think the coach that replaces Schloss could have more than a few. Especially if it is someone like Mingione, Corbin, or O’Sullivan.
