Left - Right Splits for MSU Hitters
Player vs RHP vs LHP
Jordan 381 & 373
Hines 354 & 179
Merch 338 & 328
Pulli 333 & 400
Stevens 333 & 250
Chance 329 & 271
Downs 314 & 250
Larry 292 & 177
Hujsak 292 & 400
Long 286 & 143
Kohler 220 & 234
Cupp 275 & 208
Powell 208 & 312
Larry is looking like Platoon these days, definitely not DH and definitely not an SEC leadoff man versus SEC lefties. Larry does have a 462 OBP vs RHP. Kohler can't hit L or R this season.
If Hines is getting a shift vs LHP he should be bunting to 3B, just get on base. Bat 8th. Or just start Stevens vs LHP.
I hope Pulliam just keeps going. Seems to do everything well. Versus RHP, Larry at 3B if he plays that position.

Good stats, thanks. We should've moved Larry from leadoff long time ago, he actually hits well with risp so move him down to 7 or just dh someone else. Larry's arm is way too weak to play third it's below average for a 2b. Pulliam is looking really good, looks to have baseball iq as well.
Thanks for the post.

I'm in the minority or maybe it's the silent majority but I think our order is fine. It's about the best we can do other than I'm pissed Stevens isn't getting more ABs.

Hines is trying to work his way out of the draft and into a Sr season in college
Wait- I thought we didnt have any freshmen that would help us next year?

It's ok could be tweaked a little but keep winning and it's all good.

Lineup IMO should be:
1. Mershon
2. Chance because he doesn't strike out
3. Jordan
4. Hines
5. Hujsack
6. Larry- because he is good with runners on base.
7. Kohler
8. Long/Powell
9. Pulliam

Don't ask me why but to me Mershon looks more comfortable in the 2 spot than he would at leadoff.
May be just a hunch

I bet the LH splits are even worse if the pitcher throws under 88.

I agree also, but if we can see it, why can?t the coach? My comment is not intended to bash coach, just don?t understand the unwillingness to make a change more quickly. Not making moves sooner is one area that I have never understood with this staff.

Is Hunter Hines un-coachable? I don’t understand his lack of production at the plate. Especially with runners on base. How many times does he stand there and watch third strike and not even attempt to foul it off and keep the at bat going.

Hines has been the biggest disappointment on this year's team imo.
Hit around .300 with 38 HRs his first two years.
He's hitting .270s with 9 HRs with a 28% K rate in his money year this year. Not gonna be many teams itching to take him with a regression like that and him not being an elite defender.

The previous two years, he has been patient and waited on his pitch. Actually worked the count a bit. This year, it seems like he's 0-2 before you can blink.

And maybe that's good for us and he comes back for another year to improve his stock and is highly motivated.

Very doubtful he comes back. He ain't getting any money if he stays and goes after his senior year

Batting average is a minimalistic hitting metric. We've a solid average hitting team. The rest is the issue. And yes, platooning would be too easy for "No change" Lemonis.
-
How's is still a top 7 rounder. Unless he falls off the map, he's gone.

The only way I see him back would be for us to offer enough NIL money to offset his loss of signing leverage. Realistically that's going to be six figures.

6 figures? What you think he's getting now. You mean crooked number 6 figures?
