    Baseball 2023 vs 2024

    YEAR 2023

    27-26 overall
    9-21 SEC
    18-5 nonconference
    RPI was 51

Won only 3 of 10 SEC series
    Got swept four times
    Went 1-2 three times
    Went 2-1 three times
    Didn?t sweep an SEC series

    YEAR 2024 after Samford game

    18-8 overall
    3-3 SEC
    15-5 nonconference
    RPI is 46
Won 1 of 2 SEC series

So we haven?t improved our nonconference record from last year. But we certainly seem much better in SEC play. We need to avoid sweeps, win some SEC series, win the nonconference games. SEC wins would take care of the RPI. We don?t need to drop stupid midweek games (includes Memphis, UAB, Ole Miss, Central Arkansas, Alcorn, North Alabama).

If you want to be super pessimistic MSU was 3-3 in the SEC against the very same SEC opponents in 2023.

But it's plain to see that MSU is competitive. Guys like Siary, Davis, and Hardin have found themselves. Last year, the pitching only had one reliable reliever, Nixon. The rest of the 2023 pen was like moving a powder keg through a room full of sparks.

Just enjoy the ride. Between Dohm, Stephen, and Cinjtje this weekend. Someone is going to be good, bad, or ok. Someone might even be great and another ugly. It is what it is. But today, Parker can manage the pen and keep games competitive. Huge difference. If you want to compare a year, I would say 2011. A hustling team that chugged along and provided good entertainment.
