From an offensive standpoint it is a massive upgrade since Shak just refused to shoot from about January on this year. I will have to see how Clary's defense is to see how much of an overall upgrade it will be.

Clary should give us more offense than Shak so that's a plus, but Shak has more size and would actually play solid defense on the perimeter. I watched a Penn State podcast about Clary after we picked him up and the hosts were saying his offense is good but he played no defense. With Clary and Hubbard in the back court together we have a chance to be explosive offensively but very limited defensively.

I felt Shak always had another level to give but never got there.

I will give up a little defense for more offense. 3 out of the 4 teams in the final 4 averaged over 80 ppg

I'm not disagreeing with you, I would too but there comes a time during games where you simply have to get stops and having two gaurds in the backcourt that are both less than 6 ft tall puts you at a huge disadvantage on the perimeter defensively. I'm not one of those guys to think that defense wins Championships, especially in college basketball because at the end of the day you have to go get buckets. But there are stretches in games that you have to really lock in on defense and get some stops and that's where we will be limited on the perimeter. As I've said numerous times I like the pickup of Clary alot... just voicing my concerns

Mady sissoko from Michigan st would be a nice big man target. Comes from a defense first school and defense is what we need most down low

There is a big out of Minnesota I saw some rumors about, I wasn't that impressed with his game though

You have to put more emphasis on offense. Its really hard to play top notch defense these days because of all the rule changes to aid the offensive player. Nobody really holds teams down defensively like they used to. Its still important but you really can't use a guy any more that is just a defensive specialist while being a total liability on offense.

That is it. It is Joshua Ola-Joseph. Played some at Minnesota. I would expect he is coming in to be in that second group. I doubt he pushes for a starting spot.

    15 min/game
    7.5 ppg
    2.2 rpg
    40.6% 3
    73.5% FT

That's pretty good production in limited action

I just don't see him being an addition we need, he was a solid player but we need to replace Tolu, Bell and Jeffries.. I guess he could be a replacement for Jeffries, they are similar in size but we have to get some offensive post production

I don't want a tolu replacement. I want a rim protector to clean up what our short guards allow. I wanna spread teams out next year, and let clary drive and score or kick out to Hubbard

With Jans being reported to leave for AR, how does that change the portal effort? We need a replacement for Jans quickly!!

If Jans is gone we can potentially lose most of the team including Hubbard. Its going to depend on who we hire and how soon we can get them in. I think if we can get a Will Wade type of guy he can keep the team together
