Oh and RPI is up to 110 as I type this. As I said- SEC games matter more.
Starting to see us get some of our scrappiness back. Amazing what good pitching and defense can do!

Glad to see Downs getting some pt and performing well, I know he was highly regarded coming in but just couldn't break thru in the lineup. He's much better defensively than I thought too.

Absolutely! That's Mississippi State baseball! Winning baseball still wins games. We got away from that the last two years and it felt like I was watching a college travel ball team.

That's what I loved about Cohen when he was here. You knew we had talent but that talent was going to play hard.

I?ve been up every weekend for the games and this team is much different now than it was the first three weekends, in several very good ways. This coming weekend, weather permitting, will be an indicator of where we are, but things are much better now than they were. We are starting to look a little like a scrappy bunch of dirtbags we associate with MSU baseball.

I love what I'm seeing from the lineup. The guys are battling and scrapping and our approach at the plate(outside of Hines) has changed dramatically. Much more patient at the plate and hitters trying to stay inside the ball and not pull everything. Notice Hujsak even choking up with 2 strikes(something you never see anymore). Getting Mershon and Kohler back and if Downs can keep producing really gives us quite a bit of depth to the order. I've really noticed a lot of guys playing more like our dirtbags of old. Our 2 catchers are gamers and leaders, Mershon is the heartbeat of this team and we're totally different with him in the lineup, Jordan is showing leadership and fire, Hujsak bust his a** out of the box every single time and is on fire, Cupp is great on defense and is showing signs of being a perfect 9 hole hitter. The whole team just seems to be more scrappy and fiery than the last 2 years, seeing a lot of heart. We've even comeback and won some games from behind that the last 2 years would've wound up as blowouts. Can't say enough about how different the pitching has been. Yeah I know people say look at who we've played but I'm seeing things I didn't see the last 2 years. Of course time will tell as always when you get to the meat of the schedule. You know the saying in mlb, "Everyone is a world series contender in spring training", lol, but there is cause for some cautious optimism.
