The writer of that article pretty much dismissed defense and everything else but quarterbacks. QB is obviously important, but for actually winning games, you need about 40 other players playing well.
If Horka had any balls and wanted to work on winning some fans back (and get some readers back as well) he should write a rebuttal on why Mississippi State was ranked so highly in the FPI (see above) and while Ole Miss was not (again, see above).
If he was a good writer, he would have put something similar to what Marcello put out right after the FPIs release (correct me if he did) instead of waiting for the paper to bash us. (If he did then he certainly has no balls for not rebuttaling)
I know Marcello use to cover us but it's funny how Marcello knows more about our current team then our beat writer for our State newspaper.
From the school perspective, I'd say the analogy is pretty close. You forget one thing on your data - the voting is from county residents not college students or culture of the school. That is why the voting went the way it did. I agree it seems odd but there are reasons for the vote the way it was/is in both counties.
It's just like the article written before 2014 about Dak's "almost interceptions" and why we shouldn't believe the hype.
While I don't think we have a top ten team this year, I can certainly see us winning 8 games.
I guess I shouldn't be shocked. This is the same paper that hid UM's NCAA investigation for as long as they could.
