This team won't be that bad
Won't be that good either.
They'll be ok. Woodard would've made them a tourney team. Depends what we get from Stewart, Ado, and if any of the newcomers step up. Their ceiling is probably making the tourney.
8 man rotation:
Starters: Devion Smith, Molinar, Stewart, Tolu, and Ado
Bench: Javian Davis, Jalen Johnson, TBD
We will be competitve.
If we push for an NCAAT selection, I’ll be pleasantly shocked. I hope I’m wrong. I do think Deivon Smith is going to be a hoss.
I'm just not confident in this team but hopefully I'm wrong.
People are taking that loss to Liberty & acting like that wasn't a very good season. If we win that 1 game the trajectory & feel of this program is totally diff. Hey I understand we've had some frustrating losses but we were likely 1 victory over Florida away from back to back ncaa tourney appearances. We've had 3 straight 20 win seasons. People around here give Kermit more credit for having 1 good year & 1 terrible year than anything Howland has done. It's just crazy. Sorry for the rant & I know this will be met with Howland & the team sucks. Have at it.
I don't believe they suck by any means. But we're now in year 6 of Ben Howland and there's thing that we still look lost doing that in year 6 shouldn't be problems. We still don't look like we have a clue how to attack a trapping zone, we don't seem like we can hit on any of the big time recruits we bring in(Kegler, King, Newman, etc.), we consistently have games where we just decide we aren't going to rebound on either end, and we have 5-6 games every year where we dig ourselves this massive hole to begin the game that we spend the entire game trying to dig out of.
Now saying all that, I believe there's plenty of good Howland has brought as well. I believe he without a doubt turned Q into a NBA player, he got every ounce out of Tyson Carter that he possibly could've gotten, and he's raised our talent level back to where we can compete with anyone. Some still seem to forget just how incredibly bad we were under Rick Ray. In his entire time at State we may have had 2-3 players that would be able to get any sort of minutes on Howland's last 3 teams and none of them would've started outside of maybe Craig Sword. All in all I think this will be a developmental year for us. If we can get to the NIT or maybe sneak into the tournament it would be considered a success. We need to develop everyone and get ready to make a run next year.
