Breakdown of where your representative stands on the issue. Call them
Good lord at all the "no comments". What a bunch of chicken shits. I can at least respect a "keep it" or "let the voters decide" stance because that's at least putting your name to a position.
The numbers re "let the legislature decide" has me brimming with hope, though.
Surprised to see Joel Bomgar on the "no comment" list. I've thought of him as favorite Republican in the legislature^, never afraid to take a stand, regardless of what the parties are "supposed" to do.
Also, he represents Madison, so his district is surely pro-change (and likely was all the way back in 2001), so from a political perspective he would be in no danger.
^ - Admittedly, this is based on just a relatively small amount of research and what articles happened to pop up.
I see you Oxford
As a friend of Joel's, I can tell you he is one that has been doing work behind the scenes for years to change the flag. There are guys in the legislature who will not support anything Joel endorses just because they think it jeopardizes them politically as if Joel is some crazy radical because he supports prison reform and Mary Jane legalization.

Hell Rob Roberson has positioned himself as both legislature and let the voters decided.
Come on now, voters decided on you. You are there to represent us. It is literally your job to vote on this. Don't ride the fence here. Push the legislature to vote to remove the flag. Let the people vote on a new flag. Do not put the current flag as an option. (you know some will push for this).
While we are at it. Push for a ranked voting system for the new flag. Winner take all is almost always bullshit.
Also note, the legislature will not move to put the flag on this upcoming ballot. Because they do not want a reason for more people to go to the polls during a presidential election. Period.
I assumed that's what was meant by both being checked, that he is in favor of removing the current and letting the people vote on a replacement. If so, that seems like a reasonable position.
The "no comments" are chicken shit, but I care more about where they stand if pressed to vote.
I shouldn't be shocked that there are those that want to keep it, but it really is mind blowing. Morgan said he wants to keep it because he "had two great great granddaddies fight under that flag". What!? So ridiculous. I'm glad he's proud of his granddaddies, but I imagine his grandkids and great grandkids will be embarrassed of him.
Take anything you see in Mississippi Today with a huge grain of salt. They twist things so bad many legislators won?t even talk to them.
The 3 Reps I know personally are just in it for state retirement....
So, did I read Tater's statement correctly tonight? He basically said, I've prayed and discovered I'm too chicken shit to do anything, but if the legislature suspends the rules that means they have 2/3rds, and I'm even more chicken shit to try to veto it if it passes. So y'all are on your own.
Or am I being too harsh?
I see nothing has changed in 40 years then.
Reminds me of the time I was sitting in the stands in Oxford in the 70s watching State and O.M. play baseball, and a lady behind me said to her friend "you know why I like college baseball? Cuz it's all white and it's all right". That pops in my head every time I think of Oxford.
