On the LaTech 54 yard FG with the backup fg kicker in the game?
I say yes
Since they had timeouts I think they were trying to draw us offside for the free 1st down and were gonna call timeout and go for it anyway.
That?s speculation though
I say no, you don't not back someone up another 5 yards to get them out of field goal range. It was still fourth down.
What you do is don't allow a 1st down on 4th and 11.
For all the worries about Leach and his offense, the defense is a bigger concern to me.
I would have.
I don't think you can decline a pre-snap penalty.
You can decline any penalty
We made them jump on purpose. When they lined up for the FG- we shifted real fast making the line think the ball had been snapped. Sp no- we were never going to decline it considering we made them jump on purpose. We wanted it to be 4th and long instead of hoping for a missed kick
I was wondering this same thing and wondered what the odds are since it seems every coach is so analytical these days. I couldn't find exact matches, but this was at least somewhat comparable.
52 Yard Field Goal Percentage (per 2018 power 5 schools 6 of 17 attempts) 35.2%
2020 3rd down percentage rate for 3 and 9/10 31.4%
No way I would check the below websites, but moral of story is seems like taking the penalty would be the right decision. However each are very comparable. AND since we won it was the right decision! haha

Yeah hard to see it, I agree. But the ball moved like a partially blocked FG.

After viewing the game on TV again, it looks like Jaden Crumedy (#94) broke through the middle and tipped it
4th and 10 is still a low percentage play for the offense and our defense had been playing well. Taking the penalty and pushing them out of field goal range was the right call.
I watched 5 times. I never saw anyone?s arm even near it. But I was 15 beers in at the time. Looked like the guy just hit the ground with his foot and stubbed it.
Never saw it. But yea someone had to get a finger on it.
