I'm guessing the same can be said for a lot of football analytics. How many of us in NCAA football or Madden basically went for it on fourth unless it was 4th and long and/or failing guaranteed the other team points?
I guess it's a lot easier to experiment and figure out the optimal strategy when you don't have to worry about losing your job while you figure it out.

Not sure if it's as hard as we make it look, but I'm also not sure how effective some of these shooters with more limited athletic ability would be across a whole season against people more athletic than them.
