Beginner Investment Advice

I've never done any type of investment outside of a company based supplemental investment program that my company offers. It is long term investements that are managed by a contract company and I have no interaction with the buy/sell portion of that beyond getting quarterly summaries.

I recently ran across an app called Robinhood that claims to allow entry level investment with no fees. I'm intrigued because I can get in with just $100 or so and mess around without the worry of fees (which would kill any small gain I made probably). Does anyone have any experience with this app or any advice for someone wanting to play around with some small investements? Again...I have very little knowledge or experience in this field.

It also allows bitcoin investment but I'm staying away from that after watching my buddy lose $25k in about 30 minutes...
