The thread title should be changed to our some of our fans are entitled all the time.

May I ask how today was an example of us playing entitled? I absolutely think there was some of that in the Mizzou series, we were bad defensively and struggled badly with pitch command. I think we just assumed that all we had to do was throw it in the general direction of the plate and Mizzou would get themselves out. But I don't really know how today was an example of any kind of entitlement. We experimented with our starting pitching and it didn't work, they just simply hit him hard. Meanwhile Florida's best starter had a good day himself. Neither of those things had anything to do with us playing entitled or not caring enough.
I think fans have a tendency to assume that a blowout loss means we didn't even try. That's lazy logic sometimes and I don't really think it's the case here, I think we just took one on the chin as everybody does on occasion, even the elite teams.
They took it to us early and we were staring down a 9-1 deficit in game one of a double elimination tournament. Them jumping out to that lead didn't have anything to do with us playing entitled, they just beat around a struggling pitcher. At a certain point there's a little bit of self preservation required. It's why you throw Cerantola and Hunt today and not Harding or Sims.
This is where I am. If you?re going to get your ass kicked, go all in.
My only concern is the selection committee looking for any excuse to knock us out of the top 8. They?ve been known to be unfriendly to the sec at times. Other than that, win the whole thing. We?ve got plenty of tournament titles.
A younger fan (younger than me) commented today that he's heard the players don't like Lemonis, that he is so hard on them he takes the fun out of the game.
I agree. This team is a roller coaster and get focused only when they feel like they have to. I really feel like we only swept Bama because the players probably heard it all week from fans and students about how embarrassing their performance was against Mizzou. THEN, after feeling good about themselves after the Bama sweep, they come out unmotivated again today. This team seems very immature to me. Probably just didn't realize how good we had it when Mangum was the leader of the team. He wouldn't have put up with this nonsense.
Nobody gives a shit about conference tournaments in any sport anymore.
The season begins in the regionals.
We're probably the 6th or 7th best team in the SEC truth be known. Yeah...6th or 7th. We could still end up in Omaha because it's baseball, but won't need many uniforms.
It just seemed like they didn't care and just didn't play the game with respect. Just acted like "Oh, well we're a National Seed so we're going to save everyone for the Regionals". We had guys not running out balls a couple of times, we didn't attack the strike zone, Leggett looked bad defensively, and then our team leader just goes with the "that's baseball" line. Which is code for "It's all about luck anyway so who gives a shit so we can feel better about ourselves."
It was bad enough that Lemonis addressed it in the postgame press conference about how "we really want to be here and want to win". And I don't doubt him. And I also wouldn't be surprised if he tore some of our players new assholes either after the game.
And you're right- same as Mizzou. I think some players on our team may have bought into the "well the SEC Tournament doesn't matter" line and "we don't want to burn up our pitching" because that "happened" when we won in 2012. And I don't like the SEC Tournament- but at the same time since they're keeping score we need to at least show up.
