I'd like to get a start on planning. Anyone got a clue where we may be headed?
because OM went to BHam last year- I think we are headed there this year
I know the Liberty Bowl was looking at us last weekend. FWIW.
Bham
The Liberty Bowl would be my hope. We would be the Liberty's choice every time. I think Ole Miss falls to the Music City bowl now.
Joe Dean Jr. A MSU alum, says compass bowl in Birmingham. He's the AD at Birmingham southern and has close ties.
Ouch!! We get Houston! They are damn good.
Read in the evelator after the game liberty bowl and gator bowl reps were at the game. No BBVA guys there
..claims MSU is in the hunt for the Compass, Liberty & AdvoCare V100 (formerly the Independence Bowl).
I suppose as of today, among coaches, Athletic Directors & school presidents there is a lot of political finagling taking place concerning bowl placement.
I'm just glad we're bowl eligible. I let the experts work out the details.
I vote Advocare. Stadium is reworked. Playing a big 12. Have not been there Could be fun.
I thought i read where the BBVA and Liberty bowls swap who picks first every year, and this is the year the Liberty Bowl gets the first selection. They were at our last 2 games and know how well our fanbase will travel, I'm guessing we play in Memphis New Year's Eve.

Remember, ESPN has the ability to just jerk around the tie-ins if they think they can make better matchups and everyone still gets one. Remember a couple years ago when USM won CUSA, but went to Hawai'i instead, and ESPN sent 12-1 Houston to play Penn State, and then put Cincinnati in the Liberty Bowl instead of a CUSA team.
It seems like there should be no way the Independence Bowl could get an SEC team, but we're officially selling tickets for it anyway. We must be anticipating that ESPN could give away the SEC's Liberty/BBVA bid to someone else for a matchup and send the last SEC team to the Independence.
Well, the Liberty Bowl wants Msu, I think we go to Memphis.
I vote for the Independence Bowl. I'd rather got to Shreveport than Memphis for sure. Birmingham is not awful, but Legion Field is a real shit hole.
For local entertainment value, Memphis is the best place to be. Shreveport is the safest.
Remember it's not about records, standings, etc. as of now this is scenario:
MSU - Liberty
OM - Music city
Vandy - BBVA Compass
Liberty picks before BBVA. Vandy was in Liberty two years ago. Liberty would love to have State back after setting ticket sales record in 07. Plus, I have my source. Will update if changes.
word on the street liberty wants us.
I don't know who picks first, but if they pick before Compass we're headed to liberty barring Slive's intervention.
we will be the only 6-6 team will get sent to the BBVA, just like Ole Miss last year. Our opponent is probably either Houston or Rutgers too in Birmingham. I would rather play Rutgers for the fact that we just finished up a home & home with Houston in 2009/2010 and Rutgers is an original member of the Big East and will go to the Big Ten next year. Here are my Bowl Projections:
Alabama - Nat'l Championship vs Florida St
Auburn - Sugar vs UCF
Missouri - Cap One vs Wisconsin
LSU - Cotton vs Baylor
South Carolina- Outback vs Nebraska
Texas A&M - ChickFila vs Miami (FL) or dare I say.. Duke?
Georgia - Gator vs Minnesota
Ole Miss - Music City vs Georgia Tech
Vanderbilt - Liberty vs Houston
Miss St - BBVA vs Rutgers
Rose - Ohio St - Stanford
Orange - Clemson-Michigan State
Fiesta- Oklahoma St - Fresno State
I might be in the minority but I'd love to see Auburn lose to UCF in a BCS game. And the Cotton and Rose bowl predictions would be good to watch.
I think I saw someone post the other day about us possibly playing North Carolina in Shreveport.. I'd prefer going to Memphis, but that matchup sounds best just because it'd be against a well known school. And I'm confident in beating them.
I'm all for Liberty but if not can we swap Compass for Indy
Vandy probably deserves the Gator, but I think the Gator will take UGA.
I guess UGA could slip to the Music City. That's probably our best bet to go to Memphis.
Would be pretty sweet to see OM go back to Birmingham. A week and a half ago, they were thinking about a possible 10 win season.
To be honest, the Shreveport Stadium is nicer than Liberty and Legion and there is a brand new Margaritaville hotel/casino there.
The ACC and Pac-12 both have 2 more eligible teams than bids, so if Rutgers and SMU are both ineligible, we could play Maryland, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Washington State, or Oregon State possibly in Birmingham.
I'm hearing rumblings that might send Vandy to Music City, us to Liberty and OM to BBVA. Liberty wants us bad.
Well I'd be pulling for Vandy tomorrow because it's looking like that might be the case. This would just be icing on the cake if we pass them in a bowl game. Especially after all the Shit they have been talking.
