I dread this turning into a Hud thread, but I felt it should be posted. In an article just released by Alex Scarborough of ESPN, Scott Stricklin gives what I believe are the first quotes addressing the job security of Dan Mullen. Of course any reasonable person knows that the situation is fluid and always will be. Enjoy!

I wish he would speak about the great commercial bombardment of 2013. Last week the video board was flat out offensive to a degree that we deserve and apology and an explanation.
For the last time. Regardless of what the obnoxious loud mouths that post here say, Mullen will not be fired no matter how the season ends up.

I'm of the opinion that any comments Strick makes publicly regarding Mullen during the FB season are purely "AD-speak." I wouldn't think he'd say anything to suggest the department isn't behind him - I don't see what good it would do to say anything contrary to that.Quote:

I don't think he ignored last season. My interpretation is that he looked at the big picture as most directors should do and made an informed decision or conclusion. Makes no sense to fire one of the most successful coaches in the history of your school due to a rebuilding year. I do agree that Mullen did a poor job of coaching at the end of last year and the gator bowl effort was embarrassing.Quote:

There is an article on the Reflector-Online site where Stricklin apologizes for what happened Saturday and basically says that contracts signed will not allow anything changed this season. However, he understands the jumbotron has been a problem this year and something will get changed.Quote:

I agree. If it was just AD speak, then he wouldn't have been so specific. Things could change if lose the next two games, but for the sake of recruiting and saving the offensive style Dan is putting in place I think these comments are a good sign.Quote:

I see and recognize Mullen's problems just like anyone else, and while there is certainly much improvement to make, things aren't broken and the team is getting better.
I expect MSU to be an 8-10 win program, but when I look at the big picture, starting over right now seems highly counter productive.
That said, I am still fluid and waiting for the season to end before I make my final decision. However, right now, that's where I stand.
