Yes indeed. I listened to his version of "I'll Fly Away" in tribute just now.
A true American Icon, he will be missed, I will miss him.

I shared an outdoor lunch with him and his crew in Wiggins about a million years ago ... friendly and down to earth as it gets
Sad day. Not sure if he was a "Great American", but he was one hell of a fiddler.
He was an American, with his opinions, and he chose to stand up for his viewpoints at certain times. Good for him.
He will be missed.
