Not looking good ... 17-8, 2 minutes left in first quarter.
Started pretty much like last night - can't hit a thing.
20-10 now. Jacket is off.
And typical of this years team they're off to a slow start......
Terrible decision on guarding Howard. Hemmingway guarding her is like no one guarding her.
Has Bibby hit a 3 in the last month?
KY is better than us.
We have no identity and our player substitution and chemistry is terrible. We are more talented than UK as a team by a lot, not Howard.
Horrible charge call
Another horrible call; Howard charged Hunter and a block.
Really nice comeback, but an unfortunate 3 by UK near the buzzer. Down 3 but in good shape.
Man how many steps has Bibby lost with the injury
They UK girl just palmed that ball with no call right before the shot clock violation.
The girls are giving it their all right now, and it's showing.
Damn danberry taking to that big dude
Pretty bad inbounds there, resulting in a score for UK and a foul.
Great 3 by Matharu right before the buzzer to end 3rd.
If we could just eliminate the unforced errors. Just finish this game.
How was that not a charge? Maya Taylor got thrown several feet.
Finally called Howard for pushing off, she can't get open without pushing off. Danberry has shut her down.
Vic did a hell of a job this game. He changed things til he found the right combination
Assuming we hang on - tomorrow should be one heckuva game.
I wonder if our favorite official will be there?
Really nice win from 12 down at one point.
I think Coach Schaefer has purposely brought some of his young players, mainly Matharu, along slowly this year with the plan all along to play them more at the end of the year and postseason. I hope it pays off tomorrow but if not I'll bet it does in the NCAA tourney.
Miss State 77
Kentucky 59
- Rickea Jackson 29 points, 10 rebounds
- Aliyah Matharu 15 points
- Yemiyah Morris 11 points, 10 rebounds, 5 blocks
(Note) Yemiyah Morris with 7 blocked shots over the last 2 games.
Yeah y’all told Vic didn’t you. Keep questioning a coach who has taken his team to five straight SEC title games. Too bad you can’t support his team 100% of the time.
Having the right lineups in the games, and at the right times is a huge key with this team. Very good job of lineup management and strategy tonight. Started slow, but really picked it up as the game moved along, eventually taking the lead, and control of the game. Kentucky was never able to make the run that they needed.
Miss. State needs these freshmen playing well here in the post season, and all of them are indeed playing well, very well. Also, Yemiyah Morris has stepped up big in the SEC Tourney.
