because I really think they could go 10-2 pretty easily.
This was Mullen's annual flat game against decent out of conference opponent that fanbase thinks we should kill.
2013: 21-20 over Bowling Green (current 5-2 and first place in MAC)
2012: 26-20 at Troy (who ended up 5-7, but was a top 10 offense, plus that was a road game
2011: 26-20 over Louisiana Tech, who was 8-5 (and three plays from being 11-1 regular season) and lost to TCU in bowl game
Ironically, we allowed exactly 20 points to all of those teams.
I feel fine regardless. I had this weird sense that we were never going to actually lose the game. I just wanted it to end. My thoughts on our team this year haven't really changed.
I knew BG was going to be tough before the season started. I'm glad we won but concerned that Dan reverted back to his Dansbury Stall. We should of put 40 on BG. Oh well I'll gladly take the win.
Don't forget the 2010 game against UAB, a 29-24 victory that we probably would have lost if we hadn't forced a fumble on a kickoff return. I'm thinking it was Michael Carr who forced the fumble.
2009 didn't really have a game like that, although 2-10 Vanderbilt did keep it close until the final minutes. That was a road game that everyone expected to be close, though.
Feel better? By that time, perhaps. That would be especially if we have 6-7 wins. But I'll still feel like we sat on a 21-13 lead after halftime like the issue was no longer in doubt.
I'll feel better if we get to six wins. It doesn't mean a thing if BG goes 10-2 and OkSt wins the B12 if we can't beat UK, Ark and OM.
Yes, it wouldn't mean much. But I feel we are going to win 6.
You cannot reasonably hold 2009 against Mullen. I'm a huge Tyson Lee fan, he's a great person, great ambassador. He had no business being the starting QB at an SEC school. Mullen did the best he could with a 5'9" QB and a completely raw and undeveloped Chris Relf.
Plus the refs screwed us blind in that Houston game.
Im just now in a position to talk about this game. That was the most pissed off I have ever been about a game that we won in my life.
That was not a good team. They lost their best defensive player in the first half to an ejection.
Indiana (****ing IU) beat this team by 20+, and Im not talking about basketball.
0 points in the 2nd half was an embarrassment.
Houston, if I remember right, was a touchdown favorite. Yeah, we were supposed to be in that game.
Regardless, that was still 'the game'. And the refs jobbed us in that one, we really were the quote on quote winners.
