Wow. Unless you are one of the very few traditional powers that is very hard to do. Outstanding job by the coaches and players.

Hopefully Vic don't run the shat out of this week.
While Holmes, Danberry and Bibby can spell the starters for a few minutes none of them are really scoring threats. BIG dropoff in the scoring department when they are in. Holmes is the best sub we have and helps give Morgan a break but we play our starters to death because we have to.
Yes, she's athletic but she doesn't make perimeter shots. What makes our team so tough to deal with this year is that we have four starters around Big T that you can't back off of because they can all make perimeter shots. Holmes, Danberry and Bibby are all pretty low percentage shooters unless they are right at the basket.
Bibby makes a lot of shots. I've seen Holmes make quite a few jump shots (TBF, i haven't seen her statistics), and agreed on Danberry overall.
I think they could accomplish more if we relied on them more but those seniors demand minutes and usually do damn well with them.
The 96 men’s team had little quality depth.
When was the last time we had two straight Omaha runs (1990’s), two straight BCS playoffs, or two straight men’s final-4s?
An incredibly impressive accomplishment
I would say that beating UConn is the most well known of anything besides Thunder and Lightning. Clark and Palmeiro really has had more of an impact for the MLB careers they had than what they did at MSU. Pretty much anyone that follows athletics knows Mississippi State broke the 111 game streak. It is like the Miracle on Ice in 1980. Beating the Russians just got us into the gold medal game but that is the most famous.
It is weird because Morgan's shot is shown more than USCe winning the title.
Us beating UCONN was the signature game of 2017- from the true Accomplishment perspective ... like Wisconsin beating undefeated Kentucky. They lost to Duke in the next game, but the big accomplishment was beating Kentucky
Germany destroying Brazil 7-1 in Belo Horizonte was the WC story in 2014. But fortunately for the Germans, they were able to also beat Argentina a few days later to actually win the trophy.
I can see the perspective of football and basketball being more publicity. Football had several SI Covers and it was pretty big news especially now that Dak is the face of the Cowboys. Men's Final Four is kind of debatable to me. I guess since we had never been there it was a special type of moment with us beating UK to win the SEC tourney. Beating UConn is up there with 1980 Bama on a big time National stage. We won an Espy for it and I think it will be one of those replays that you see every March for the next decade or so.
Clark and Raffy were definitely more well known after what they did in MLB. Raffy having Hall of Fame numbers but with the finger wag and Clark just having injury issues or he would have had the numbers also. It is kind of insane that we didn't win a National Title with both of those guys on the team for 3 years especially when you throw in Brantley and Thigpen. Has there ever been a baseball team with that kind of MLB talent that didn't win a Title? That is 4 guys who made the MLB Allstar game at some point of their career.
