That's what Brett is saying. Sucks
We'all take 10 people
6-6 MAC team. We will annihilate them
God that would be the worse bowl for travel.
Problem is that it's a Florida bowl and most SEC bowls are FL bowls. We'all probably go to FL next year. Vegas or Dallas would've been ideal
At 5-7 I refuse to complain about making a bowl game. We get to watch them play another game. Last chance until September 2017. We could be like the peckerheads up north and watching everybody else play in a bowl game.
roundtrip flights outta CLT are $100 :)
December 26th at 11am central
According to the St. Petersburg Bowl website that's an ACC vs AAC bowl.
They don't have enough teams to fill it apparently
Any bowl trip to Florida is a good one. However I'm not convinced mcmurphy knows what he's talking abt.
Any bowl is a great bowl when you're 5-7 with a loss to USA. I won't be there, but excited our boys get some swag and extra practice, and I'll be ready to tune in to the additional Christmas Present of the Dawgs in a 7th straight bowl.
Looks like Vegas bowl has decided upon Houston vs winner of SDSt/WYO...

Not impressed. Lost to the only P5 team they played. Lost to an FCS team. Lost to 4-8 Cincinnati and 5-7 Akron. 4 of their 6 wins were over non-bowl MAC teams, with 7-5 Eastern Michigan and 6-6 Central Michigan as their notable wins.
Impressive job by the coach to get them to rally from 0-6 though.
Looks like that is what many think is happening but there are also swaps happening right now as well with ESPN and the bowls. We haven't been mentioned yet with any swaps yet though.
Prediction: We win 56-21. Fitz has 450 yards of total offense and passes Cam Newton's SEC QB rushing yards record.
Beggars shouldn't be picky. As others have pointed out ANY Bowl at 5-7 is a gift, you take it and say thank you! The practice time is what's important.
We get a practice game for our youngsters, a cool trip for our seniors, a likely blowout momentum builder for signing day and next year, and a buttload of Bowl practices...who cares if attendance sucks!
Maybe beating up on Miami Ohio after an om win in '16 can jumpstart the program like beating om and rice in '13. I want fitz to have a huge game and for our defense to build on the confidence they got from the om game... Miami Ohio is the perfect opponent to do this
ESPN article: http://www.espn.com/college-football...etersburg-bowl
I think another added benefit of post-season play is in recruiting. When kids visit they can see actual game prep. Also, with so many bowls, the perception is if you are not in a bowl, you are not a good program.
THANKS COHEN You couldn't get us a BETTER BOWL???? We are in the freaking SEC damnit ****
Bonner: "But it looks like St. Pete Bowl or Heart of Dallas Bowl at this point. Official bowls announced tomorrow."
What source does ESPN have that Bonner doesn't? Is the athletic department is stonewalling Bonner on purpose?
Everyone pray for heart of Dallas tonight
If it is St Petersburg, there won't be 3k fans from both schools combined.
To qualify this, I won't be going to any of them. THAT being said it would seem to me out of the possibilities: Vegas>St. Pete> Cactus>Ft. Worth/Dallas. That's just by reputation and actual visits to the towns and the climate in December. AGAIN, Beggers have no room to be picky.
Yes we get our chance to whip Manny Diaz*****
ESPN got this matchup. This isn't a bowl game to get big attendance, it is Holiday time filler for ESPN. Having an SEC team slotted there is the best for ESPN. They'll get more people to watch because we are a P5 team. Nobody would watch Miami of Ohio vs say, Memphis or Tulsa. They basically sent an American Conference team, Houston, to Vegas and placed us here. I like the matchup for us. I'm happy. At 5-7 I'm just glad for more practices and an extra game. The major downside is if we were somehow to lose. That'd kill some of the Egg Bowl momentum. I'd also say it'd embarrass the SEC, but screw the rest of them. I don't care what they think.
So I saw that the St. Pete Bowl director is a MSU guy? That might explain a lot of this.
