A mission to reignite the sun? I can't get past that.
If you like sci-fi, Primer. Indie movie made by engineers for a few thousand bucks.
I disagree: I'm a big Danny Boyle fan, but I agree about Primer. It's amazing.
Other flicks I'm a huge fan of:
Blade Runner: probably one of the best science fiction movies of all time. Directed by Ridley Scott and starring Han Solo. It's not nearly as popular as it should be in the annals of cinema.
Children of Men: easily one of my favorite films.
Closer: a gut-wrencher of a film for "hopeless romantics"
A Life Less Ordinary: another Danny Boyle film, and stars a hilarious Ewan Mcgregor
Clerks: or any other film by Kevin Smith, actually
The Saint: Val Kilmer at his best
Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels: Guy Richie's first film. If you loved Snatch, you'd love this one too.
Last of the Mohicans
Dark Crystal
The Thing (1982 version)
Scanners
Zack and Miri Make a Porno
I could literally go on and on. I love threads like these, tho. Nice one, 61.
Out of the Furnace. You can thank me later.
Restrepo (sp?). documentary.
The Prestige. Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, and Michael Caine at their best. Plus Scarlett Johansson as eye candy.
I thought it was worthy of some Oscar consideration. Was actually disappointed it wasn't mentioned during the build up. it was the best movie I had seen all year... but it wasn't promoted like a whore and it didn't have any sympathetic political angle, so it wasn't in the running.
Out of the Furnace was great till the last 20 minutes. I thought the ending sucked ass. Scene with Affleck and Woody is hilarious. Had to watch that part again. This movie had great cinematography which I am a sucker for.
Couple more,
Book of Eli (watch on Blu-Ray)

Alien, top 5 favorite movie I think
No country? Did you see the topic?
No country won picture of the year.
Id say it got plenty of press.
Yea I know but I had to give it some recognition. The movie is so quiet. It's masterful in adding suspense to it. I really can't think of another movie that so beautifully uses sound or lack there of to make a movie so suspenseful. Please name me more of them.

Some more:
Eastern Promises
Blue Velvet
Heat
Good Will Hunting
Green Street Hooligans (and if you soccer fans like that, you should also check out Cass, which is also about West Ham, and The Firm (1989), also about the original West Ham firm, ICF [inner city firm], starring Gary Oldman)
White Squall
Sexy Beast (easily one of Ben Kingsley's best roles)
Dr. Strange Love
Mean Streets
Saw it when it first came out, I need to watch it again. A lot of people brought it up when True Detective ran the scene that is shot all in one take by one camera. Apparently Children of Men has something like a 12 minute scene like that as well.

I'm a fan of Gone in 60 Seconds, personally. Maybe it's the car nut in me.
Damn good flick

Snatch may be my favorite movie of all time. Love it.
Boondock Saints
Donnie Brasco
Swingers
Shanghai Noon
Super Troopers
Donnie Brasco is awesome. I think its a lot better than Godfather. True story too.
Let Me In. Great scary/drama indie flick.
Love Boondocks. The sequel was atrocious. You should watch the documentary "over night". It's basically the rise and fall of Boondocks director Troy Duffy. He is a complete lunatic, and mostly an ass hole the entire time.
I agree on Snatch. It's one of my favorite movies. If you like Snatch, you should watch Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. It's a similar style of British/crime/comedy, also directed by Guy Ritchie.
Super Troopers is the shit. I love that and Beerfest with a fervor.
I do also like Donnie Brasco, but not as much as Pass, apparently, lol. In my opinion, the best gangster (Italian) flick ranking goes like this:
1a. The Godfather Pt. 1
1b . The Godfather Pt. 2
2. Goodfellas
3. Mean Streets
4. Donnie Brasco
5. The Untouchables
For the Civil War and history buffs, you must see THE COLT. Even you're wife will watch it and be crying at the end. You might be too.

Have we morphed from a "not well known" movie thread, to just "our favorite movies", lol?
I love Se7en; I'm surprised I forgot it. David Fincher is one of my favorite directors.
And I love Black Hawk Down. Directed by Ridley Scott, who is probably my favorite, with a slight lead on Michael Mann, who directed Collateral; easily one of Tom Cruises greatest roles.
All of these, maybe with the exception of Collateral, were all publicized a ton during their time.
Yea thread is taking a life of its own so I am rolling with it (and probably biggest reason its morphed) haha
I like the Resident Evil series although it has gotten increasingly weirder but still has excellent cinematography and music imo plus Milla Jovavich is such a bad ass

Definitely gotta give props to Collateral. That movie is awesome.
I'd be remiss if I don't mention Push and The Losers. Two really different roles, but Chris Evans pulled them off. Push convinced me he could pull off Cap.
