My MS Top 40 Prospects of 2015
-
-
List looks good...so on that list, we currently have 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, and 14...4, 5, and 15 seem like only a matter of time...we seem to have momentum with 11. And we look to have probably a 50/50 shot at 1 and 2. And only one of the top 20 is committed elsewhere right now.
Yeah, I'll take that.
-
Hibbler way too high. JMar way too low. Other then that not a bad list.

Just realized I lost Gabe Campbell in my draft somehow
-
If we can somehow get Leo Lewis to stay here and sign, the rest of the class is icing at this point. His film is SICK.
-
Are the stars by each player your own system or from other boards. There are no 5 five star players.?
-
We are in great shape with #4 and #5. Only a matter of time.

I believe those are the 247 ratings.

the 5* rankings are pretty fluid until after summer camps.
-
Pretty amazing that we have a great chance to land most of these guys. Leo Lewis is by far the
best player in the state. Most think he's bama bound but I don't see it. He grew up a state fan
and we have Tony Hughes and Geoff Collins on him. Also, I've heard a lot of talk about Ole Miss being the leader for
Patterson. I think he ends up at State. It's going to be hard for him to ignore what we are doing with this
2015 class. Plus, Jesse Jackson will be in his ear for the next year. As for Dear and Adams, they're pretty much a done deal.

I used 247 ratings unless they didn't have a rating and scout did. I wasn't gonna leave a kid unrated if one site had him rated.

Just nasty. I think his rise up the rankings will resemble Chris Jones's when it's all said and done. If you like his film, go watch Amante Caban'a film. He's a LB from AL we offered. He and Lewis would be the bash brothers

You are correct. 247 only composite ranks MS prospects to #25. If you want to see theirs to see how it's different from mine http://247sports.com/Season/2015-Foo...chool&State=MS

I disagree with Brady Davis. Guy is not D1 material. I have seen him play and he is not good at all. Average HS QB. Give me the boy at Tishmingo County over him.
McCollins is a stud. No doubt about it.
-
b-b-b-b-but the BearSharks said Freezus was taking the state of Mississippi from Mullen and Mullen was on his way out cause he cant croot?

Haven't you heard? They are only signing a small class and want mostly out of state players. They have no room for these lowly athletes from the state of Mississippi.**
-
Why is Trey Smith so low? He's got good stats and his dad wasn't a bad player either..
Stats
Recorded 2,300 all-purpose yards, including 1,473 on the ground, and had 19 total touchdowns to lead the Jags to the 6A quarterfinals.

I have Brady Davis as the 37th best prospect in MS while I have Hawkings as the 26th so we actually agree. I never said being in my early top 40 = SEC scholly. Kid is a good hs QB and will play in college somewhere. I love Hawkins as an athlete but his arm strength is his biggest weakness. I've watched every available film on him. If he has a cannon, he's a borderline 4 star right now with multiple SEC offers. If he can go to camps this summer and prove that he has improved his arm strength significantly, he will land at QB somehere. If he doesn't he will likely be taken as a ATH that likely projects to TE.
In my 2015 under the radar article (Feb 18th) where I outlined him I said this:
Quote:
QB Blake Hawkins (3-star) 6’5 210 Iuka, MS Highlights The size and athleticism are there. Doesn’t get a ton of looks in Iuka so summer camps will be huge for him. If he can prove his arm strength and accuracy to college coaches, he should find a spot.

At a sparq camp where they do the laser timed 40s, he ran a 4.83. He doesn't have that 5th gear to get the big time offers. Great hs player though. To his defense, he has better game speed than track speed but that 4.83 is haunting him on the recruiting trail
-
Who is Trey Smith's dad? Don? Quentin? David?

Damn.. I thought he was faster than that...

I bet
Jamal, Jevon, Leo and Dear end up being 5* guys with Fletcher, Donate, and Timothy moving up a little and flirting with 5* status..

We just have to keep pushing the party line of all these guys coming in together to win an SEC title...it's catching on with some of them for sure and they have to keep working on the others
-
Awesome job BeastMan!
I think we are pretty close to offering a TE from Indianola-Gentry named Kendall Wright. He is 6'5" 235 or so. He's probably a camp guy if I had to guess.
-
And as far as Trey Smith goes- I wouldn't be surprised if he gets his 40 time down at all since that's what his Dad does for a living- athletic training. He will be MC's QB this year.
-
I like it. Think J'Mar is too low though...
-
Great list. One minor correction, we are recruiting Dear as a slot. How would you guys rate Ross Trail the UL commit. I think Rivals has him pretty high in the state rankings but I don't think any SEC schools are really recruiting him. But Rivals is garbage so I don't take their rankings seriously
ETA I meant former UL commit since I believe he decommitted.
-
Trail has also moved back to Arkansas as well. He's a very solid prospect but more of a pro style qb.

The only thing that really concerns me about Trail- and this is a pretty big concern- he was knocked out last year and had a pretty serious concussion against South Panola.

Never knew he moved, I guess that's why he wasn't listed. But if we get J'Mar I'll be more than ok with that. Also 2016 QB Josh White is starting to blow up and "experts" are thinking Texas may have the edge. However Josh has said himself that MSU is still his clear number 1.

This. I've watched his film several times and he reminds me of Russell Wilson. I doubt he moves
up to a 4 star but I think he's a stud. Gotta get him in the boat.

I thought J'Mar was a 4 star on 247?

I really like JMar's upside. I want him to be the QB in this class. He's my #1 QB in MS. When you look at it like that, it sounds better. I'm just not huge on this year's QB crop in state (I never really am). For all JMar's upside, I still think he's a project.
ETA- If I had him as the highest rated 3 star, I'd have him at 13th. That's only a few spots.

Just wait until the dead period
-
I posted my thoughts on Terrance Davis in another thread, but I think he is better than Barnes from Madison. Davis is crazy athletic and wasn't on a very good team. I don't know what the knock on him is. I keep waiting on him to blow up.

13th is about right IMO...
