Doesn't look like it sold out. Am assuming this is on the Rice fans lack of participation. Given relative attendance figures this year, I'm guessing the Liberty Bowl is pretty damned happy with us again.

What was the announced attendance? I never saw a number
Yes, if Rice would have brought 8-10k it would have been sold out...
They announced it to be over 57,000 but it didn't look like it to me
I was there. I could see it potentially being close to 50,000 but no way it was much over.
Rice is a small school and that's a long trip for them. I think they sold a few thousand which is honestly pretty good considering the factors goon into the game.
I thought on twitter it said the attendance was like 53,000. If so, we didn't bring 50,000. My guess is there was about 40-45k Dawg fans there.
At the game it was announced 57 & some change.
57,846 announced
No way there were 57k at the gate. They had to be paid attendance. My guess is between 45 and 50k at the game.
Stricklin tweeted a guess between 30-35K MSU fans. I would say there was 50,000 total there.
If there were 50k or fewer, that would mean over 20% of the stadium was vacant. Those of you there, did it look that way? 57-58K would represent a little over 10% vacant.
It looked like at least 10% of the stadium was vacant.
I say we had a solid 40K there....
@MikeNemeth: The announced crowd at the AutoZone Liberty Bowl (57,846) between Mississippi State and Rice was 3rd-highest among the 23 pre-1/1 bowls.
I sat on the west side row 60. I saw fewempty seats beside or below me. Above me, it started to thin out considerably. But I would say the stadium was 90% full (54k). I would say the crowd was 90% Bulldog. Rice may have had 2,000 there. I saw very few locals. I am would say there was just north of 45k in Bulldogs.
Yeah between 40-45k of us. Seating in the stadium is maxed out at about 61+, I'd say you could have put another 8k+ butts on metal. There were high school bands and locals that filled in some spots. I'd say actual attendance was 53-54k.
Well the Gator Bowl announced just over 60,000 today and didn't have any more fans there than when we played Northwestern. That has to be one of the bowls claiming higher attendance. I'd be shocked if there were 40,000 people there from the crowd shots shown during the game.
I'd say there were 40K State fans there
State side was pretty full from end zone to end zone, and 99% maroon. The announced attendance was 57+, but I imagine there were about 52 or 53K or so butts in seats. Only Rice sections I saw were over by their band - they may have had 3,000 (if that). Subtract them and the other Rice fans sprinkled in, the high school bands, and a few Memphis folks just there for the game, I'd say we had around 45K MSU fans or so.
The Regions Bank guy that was doing some of the events inside the gates like the basketball goal said on the mic something like "boy, you MSU fans really showed up today. Rice fans, well we've got a total of 13 Rice fans so far."
I'd say there were at least 40k Bulldogs there. 90% of the folks there, maybe more, were in maroon & white. There were a few Memphis fans in front of us. One of the guys kept on and on about how annoying the cowbells were. After hearing the guy complain about it, my wife (an OM grad) took my cowbell and rang it in his ear every chance she got until he left at half time. Needless to say, I was quite proud. The guy kept saying how he'd hope we wouldn't score and that Rice would blow us out so he didn't have to hear the bells.

I snapped a pic of the stands pregame before the band went on the field. The State side continued to fill up after I took the picture (to probably 95-99% full), but the Rice side stayed pretty much the same (I'd guess around 75%). I did notice that we pretty much filled up our side, and spilled over to theirs as well. I'd read somewhere (maybe twitter) that Rice had sold somewhere in the neighborhood of 2600 tix, but that was at least a week before the game.

Can't help but notice the Bama lettermen jacket with the 23498723497 national championship years listed in the right side of that picture (front row). Good grief.

True that, but he was cheering for us, so he didn't make any enemies while he was there- dude even had a State hat on.
Given that bowls attendance was way down for almost all bowls, one would think we made another strong impression with our fan support. Liberty Bowl must have been happy with us, though bummed about Rice.
