Home run! I've always liked his offenses. And there apparently are rumors that we might add Seth Littrell too. KB21 is my source on that from Twitter.
Ty Warren apparently coming on as DL coach too
Johns = HELL YEAH, that's a big boy hire.
Warren = yawn.
Warren official as DL coach. What's the story on him? Better than Turner hopefulky
Didn't Johns name come up when we were searching for an OC under arnett?
This guy is gonna get KT legit. Great hire
Warren played in the NFL for Bellichick and the Patriots and was a really good DT. Played at A&M. Has some NFL experience and was the coach at Rice last year.
No idea why our fans aren't happy with this hire other than "lack of experience". His resume seems solid to me though. It's not like he has never coached anywhere before and the internship he got with the NFL means that there is a good chance he becomes a NFL DL coach one day.
What else are we waiting on? WR?
DLine coach is about being able to motivate and recruit. Every DL coach in college football does the same drills 75% of the time. You teach hand technique, body lean, and read keys. The shit aint hard. DL guys are animals with anger issues quite often- you have to be able to manage personalities. That is what a DL coach does. If he is good at it- they will kill for him. Thats why guys like Coach O are good DL coaches- players love his ass. Will do anything for him
Warren needs to be a guy that teaches solid technique and someone the guys will kill for
Guys that were better than everybody and got by on being just super talented do not make great coaches because they dont understand the struggle. Guys that had to work for it and develop are guys that become good coaches. I've always struggled coaching guys that are wild as shit on the mound or QBs that cant hit receivers. I have always been able to throw anything and hit the target. Ive always been able to shoot a basketball well. I cant understand how people cant throw strikes/miss WR's badly/or cant make FT's. I can teach the proper mechanics but just cant grasp how people cant perform those tasks.
Am I stopping Lebby and crew from doing that?
I just gave my opinion on the hire. I'm not standing in front of the Seal Complex with a sign in protest.
Lebby and crew will absolutely determine the fate of the program and I've never said anything different. Retarded argument by you here.
I mean, it's a pretty stupid comment. "Let the coaches do their job!" when I'm literally not stopping them from doing that.
That's like me going to a restaurant, taking a bite out of my steak, and saying "my steak is a little overcooked" and then you shout from another table "LET THE CHEF DO HIS JOB!!" I mean, that's just dumb. I just gave an opinion.
Brian Williams is the guy I wanted that there was some interest in. Really good recruiter, had some good DLs at Maryland.
Still waiting on WR. A lot of rumors out there that it may end up being Seth Littrell, which would give us 3 former HCs on staff. I do know that they are working to get Seth on staff in some capacity, just unknown on the capacity and there have been some rumors that it would be WR coach.
I don't see that happening. At least not as the primary WR coach. Maybe he's an analyst or something but I don't see him being brought in as the primary WR coach. That would be quite a disappointing hire. He wasn't really good when he was here and I still am pissed that he wouldn't take Malik Nabors call when he wanted to transfer here after the 2021 season.
Several on that list did nothing but create drama. Great potential, but that?s about it. I never understood why we never used Creed much at all. Was he dumb, bad attitude, a screw up, etc?
Polk was good for one year but then didn't listen to the coaches and left early.
Thomas was up and down and there was no consistency and left the moment he got the LSU offer
Rara was up and down and there was no consistency. Also left us high and dry the moment he got a good offer.
Whittemore looks more and more like a bust every day
Dortch was a bust
Harmon was a bust
Harvey had a heart condition so u/d on that one but I wouldn't say he blew anyone away.
I really wouldn't say he was this elite recruiter. He got guys who could catch balls, the primary job of a receiver, and we played an ass ton of WRs. Leach's offense made the WRs, not the other way around. It also wasn't Spurrier recruiting elite WRs. We missed on PLENTY. Now you're an AR guy so you have an affinity for anyone on that staff. I think that's probably the biggest thing here.
No, the biggest thing here is Jr can recruit and he gets his wrs ready. And thats the bottom line.
Lebby's offense blends Air Raid passing principles with a robust run game and play-action.
Whittemore never got to play under Leach nor Jr. To use him as an example of a bust is disingenuous. The reason he is mentioned is that Jr got him from Florida gators.
Z. Thomas likewise did not play under Jr or Leach. He was a true freshman. But he was productive at LSU.
Rara was consistent. His first year he had 18 catches while Polk set records. His 2nd year he took in 45 catches. Then UGA paid him.
Harmon, goes back to the same issue as Zavion. Who coached him? Barbay's people.
Again, not saying that Jr is the guy. I am saying it could be. And no, I would not be mad about it.
I remember when the Board got mad at me for calling Whittemore ol white legs and not singing his praises. He caught 12 passes this year at Utah as a Jr.
It'll be the same as Bumphis. Lebby will have to do the heavy lifting with recruiting anyone worth a damn and Spurrier will recruit a bunch of projects that you hope pan out. My guess? They won't.
We need someone who can recruit at that position and develop. Spurrier, and Bumphis too(I'm not absolving him), couldn't recruit and couldn't develop. Leach's offense was the reasons guys like Polk looked good. Same with Austin Williams, Scooby Ford, Justin Robinson, etc. RaRa had some physical abilities but his route running was crap. It didn't get better.
Also, Zavion did play under Leach and Spurrier(see 2022).
Correct. He was a freshman and his main duty was punt return. He played under Barbay. Rara, all you can really go by is what he produced. And he got better while here. The numbers proves that. The $$$ UGA spent to get him prove that. But again... This is all mute. Lebby is going to hire who he is going to hire.
Any updates on WR coach?
