Agreed. Rather have a coach that helps him with game management.

I agree. I was only for it because if Lebby were to give it up, there are only two coaches that I would want to call plays in Lebby's offense: Briles and Sean Lewis. I never really felt like Lebby would or should give up play calling though.

No top flight assistant is signing on with Lebby in a win or go year

Don't buy into that narrative. The view of Jeff Lebby in the coaching profession isn't the same as the view of Jeff Lebby in the eyes of a faction of the fans who want to skip steps in the process of getting the program back on sound footing.

If we go 1-8 in the sec again, he's gone, period
ETA... just thought about it, we have to win 3 sec games to get a bowl next year. We have 2 sec wins in 3 years
-
Let Lebby call the plays. We averaged 30 PPG without an offensive line. That's kind of impressive in a sick way.

Better DC, easier schedule, better players... I think we will be fine

I really hope so. I have had my fill of bad football. I will be happy with mediocre football.
-
I?m not even that big of a Lebby fan but I would take him calling plays over Briles

We State fans have sustained our entire lifelong fandom on the self-proclaimed hope of what might be. *****

He should?ve prolly thought about letting someone else call plays after the Florida game. But then he followed that up by that debacle at Missouri that ended with us snapping the ball over our holders head or something like that. You would think a team like that could never blow a huge lead in the 4th quarter and punt to
The best return guy in the country or anything

You're kinda skipping a couple of games after Florida. 38 points vs Texas in an OT loss. 38 points and win at Ark. I get your point somewhat but we backed up Florida with 2 good offensive games.

The national public sees lebby as doing a good job. Took us from an absolute dumpster fire and worse team in P4 to 5-7 and competitive. That's what they say on sec network, for example.

Will Lebby be our coach next season at 5-7? I say no. He has to win 3 sec games to get to 6
-
Briles not coming to be OC is not a slight against Lebby. So stop that shit.
OC is not a need like getting a legit DC.
Since we play South Carolina next season I don't like it but it is what it is.

You know that Lincoln Riley is a better offensive mind than Lebby, right?

I'd say its 50/50 at 5-7

Lebby scored 30 PPG with a terrible OL. Offense is not our problem. We need some dudes on defense and depth

Exactly. If we have decent o-line we could easily get to 34-37 PPG

You hate Lebby. We get it. Take a Midol.

We were 9th in scoring offense in sec play. Certainly not horrible, but 4 of the 7 teams below us fired their coach

I would avoid that too if I were you. It isn't close

Oh I know. Thats why I say 5-7 is 50/50. He could easily get another year at 5-7. When you fund the program at the bottom of the SEC- you dont hold your coach to top of the SEC standards
NIL Era has changed everything

I wouldn't doubt we'd give him another season, but no bowls is 3 seasons isn't acceptable.

This is the NIL Era- previous norms are done. We are going to struggle no matter who the coach is in this Era.

We missed a bowl this season bc of bad coaching in close games, not NIL. Lebby is close, so I'm hopeful he figures it out next season.

or we narrowly missed a bowl game because our coach had us playing above our heads (Altho I agree he blew the Texas game not bleeding the clock- we did play above our heads this season)
Reminder: if our DL doesnt hit the Texas QB late- we win easily.

Why in the hell do y'all keep saying next year's schedule is easier? It's absolutely brutal.
Home games: Bama, Auburn, Mizzou, Oklahoma, Vandy
Away games: LSU, South Carolina, Texas, OM.
This year's schedule was easy compared to that. Which 3 of those are we beating? Mizzou at home, maybe. Auburn and Vandy, same. South Carolina, I lean loss because it's on the road. Everything else is just about a guaranteed loss. OM I put into tossup category just because it's a rivalry game. But in Oxford, I'm far from optimistic.

Asks me who we will beat. And then you answered your own question.
I never said the schedule was easy. I said it is easier than this year.
We played three teams that went 11-1 this year. Texas ended up a borderline playoff team. Mizzou had a really good season despite massive injuries to their QB room. The only bad teams we played were Florida and Arkansas. We played both of them on the road. And Tennessee won 8 games.
