Until HH gets consistent hits he is 9th.
Sadly, both Hunter & Highfill deserve to be at the bottom of the lineup

Highfill is struggling at the plate and behind the plate. That job should be up for grabs.
I would sit Hines a day. Free up another spot and see if somebody else can contribute.
some players if their defense is just so dam good or your catcher will throw anyone out trying to steal then they play just hit them protectively or where they won't do much damage.
Pitching rotation staying the same
If I were Nolan Stevens, I would look at the lineup and then immediately go enroll at Georgia or Oregon State or something. But call Vitello first.
He was a Cape All Star this past summer and a top national recruit
Any lineup with Hines should be thrown away?.
No reason to change it at this point. Starting pitching hasn't been our issue. In fact, we haven't had a starter surrender more than 1 ER in a start all season:
Pitcher IP H ER K BB Kohn 5 1 0 11 0 Ligon 4 4 1 8 0 Simmons 3 1 0 5 2 Foster 2 1 1 3 2 Kohn 6.1 4 1 11 0 Ligon 3 2 0 3 3 Simmons 4 0 1 5 4 Pruitt 4 1 1 9 0
So first off, it's Will Coggin. He played for us so let's at least try to spell his name right. Also, for like the 13354263435th time, NOT EVERY NAME ENDS IN GD S. Holy Crap. And yes, Will is a good hitting coach. I'd love to have Will here, but part of that is Will wanting to come here. He doesn't right now. He doesn't want to be a hitting coach after this. He also wouldn't have come here when he went to UGA.
On Slate, he did this exact same thing last year. He started off lighting the world on fire and he came back to earth when conference play began. He ended up hitting .300. He's going to hit right around that same number this year. We didn't get rid of Slate because he couldn't hit. We got rid of him because he's a locker room cancer and sucks at fielding. He had 13 errors in 2023, he had 9 errors last year, and already has 2 this year.
Why? He refuses to change. Nobody is coaching his ass to try to hit the Hump with a line drive. Thats his choice to see if he can do it
Too many are so quick to bash GoTro for failures but dont acknowledge that Cupp is better. Downs improved to .300 last year and is off to a good start this season. Sullivan is off to a great start. Frei too. Our transfers come in and do well because they have more talent than what we already have at those positions. They dont seem to have a problem with GoTro and his coaching you guys think is so impactful.
Hitters have weaknesses and sometimes coaching no matter who it is- can fix it. Thats why guys drop out or peak to certain levels. But especially when you refuse to change you limit yourself as to who you are
I'm not a GoTro fan but I don't place blame on him for Hines's regression.
The guy
1) hasn't changed his approach since day 1
2) has a very weak mental mindset in the box
He is who he is. An average hitter with above average power and below average between the ears.
He'll get hot and hit some bombs. He'll also K a bunch, probably with guys on base. Sucks but it's the way it is.
