Pour in to baseball

I?m not as down on this recruiting cycle as many of you are. I think it?s our best class in several years. Lebby is doing a good job. BUT, having said that Im cool with being a baseball school. It wouldn?t bother me to see us throw some of the money we throw into football into the baseball program. Become the example of how to use nil and other monies for baseball. We aren?t gonna do it but I?m just saying it wouldn?t bother me. Us being a baseball power is more important to me than being a 7-8 won football program. Just my opinion of course.

If we dont make an attempt to win in football then theres a good chance we will be left out if there is any more conference restructuring. So if you like your weekend series against LSU, Arky, Tenn, Tex etc then we better make an attempt. Otherwise those weekend series will turn into matchups against MdTN, Tulane, USM, Rice, North Texas

Disagree on the recruiting class being best in several years. It's not a terrible class though. But are you saying pour money into the baseball portal? I think we may have the stomach for baseball spending but the talent is harder to project at the HS level.

Maybe it's where we belong for football. Just thinking realistically. But that money, can't lose it or we'd have to shut half the school down.

We cannot be thrown out of the SEC just for sucking in football- why you think Vandy has remained all these years? There are by-laws and we are an original member.

The only way we get thrown to the Tulane's and ULL's of the world is if they disband the SEC and form some type of new superconference

Wouldn't even happen then. They wouldn't form a 'Super League' to crown a national champion every year who had more than 3 or 4 losses and that's exactly what would happen if you got rid of the middlin to lower level teams in big conferences. Fodder will ALWAYS be required.

We just won the SEC in soccer so we don't we divert football money to that?****
If we are going to emphasize a sport in addition to football it needs to be basketball but we'll probably never do that.

TV money drives it all now, it?s all driven by eye on screens and advertising revenue. They will sell it as more great teams able to play each other rather than the run of the mill conference games. It will happen and it is just a matter of when.

What's going to draw more eyes, 6-3 Bama at 5-4 Ohio State or 8-1 Bama because MSU and UK were on their schedule instead of UT and UGA at 7-2 Ohio State because Michigan State and Purdue were on their schedule instead of Oregon and Wisconsin?

My annual reminder that more people watched us play Tulsa in the Armed Forces bowl than watched us win a National Championship in baseball. Yes, really.

Fine, you don?t have to hear what I?m talking about, but that?s the way things are going to shake out. Continue your work on the entitled premise that we will always be there. That?s the way most of this state thinks anyway. It?s working out fantastically so far.

Baseball is where it needs to be.

Football needs to catch up to where it needs to be badly.

Exactly. Football pays the bills and brings in students and support.

Baseball is a niche sport, which we all obviously love, but women's bball has more traction nationally, which says a lot.

Man we got some weak fans. We had 2 losing seasons in a row after what 14 straight bowls (OM ain't done that) and too many just throw in the towel? We can't get on the team for quiting on the season or a game.

The sky ain't falling. Everyone needs to get a grip. OM had a 4-8 then 2-10 back in what 2010 and 2011. They didn't quit. They came back. Dang Bulldogs grow a pair and man up.

Exactly. No coach wants to play a championship level team every week. They need some sweet meats. We will be included to be one of the sweet meats just as we always have. As will Vandy. As will Purdue. Northwestern. Boston College. Etc

It’s funny to me reading all the post bout us not being in the Sec. This has been going on for decades! We ain’t gonna be cut from the Sec!

You are right about being thrown out of the SEC, but a super conference is coming and we need to fight tooth and nail to be in it.

Pouring money into baseball is just silly. Maybe Wisconsin should pour all their money into hockey. College Hockey doubles college baseball revenue.

I would hope so. It is because every military branch requires active duty men and women, as spelled out in their contract, to watch the programming for it. The bowl games get a tax break for doing it.

Not a lot of people know It is the most coveted bowl outside the NY6. Took my fiance there for the game that year. She always wanted to go to the Armed Forces bowl.

I'm not knocking baseball at but your average Sports fan couldn't tell you one team who won the College World Series in the past 10 years. Football will always bring in the most money followed by Men's basketball and now Women's basketball. Why would we dump so much into baseball and take away from Football?

So Greg Sankey is going to give up his job as the premier exec in college football to start up a Super Conference where he will have to share power? Noooooooo he is not.

If they go to some mega football deal it will still have conference affiliation. These commissioners arent giving up power they worked their lives to get

He may not want to, but it's going to happen regardless. When new TV deals are up for negotiation is when things will start moving. The Big 10 and the SEC are already in cahoots with one another for this merger. Once the old agreements go null, we better do everything possible to get into that new league.

The next move is going to be some kind of P4 league that separates from the G5

The SEC is most powerful animal out there and isnt going anywhere in my lifetime

This article is talking Mississippi State's earnings and according to what it says Baseball, Men's basketball and Women's basketball all lost money. Im talking from a National and competitive standpoint. Why would we focus so heavily on baseball when from a National perspective it's not as relevant

Women's basketball nationally loses money. Very few schools break even or possibly turn a profit. SC is the top program in the country and they barely turn a profit. Think about how much the Big Ten is going to start losing now that they have to travel out West for games.

Baseball lost more money in 23 than usual because we werent very good. Normally it is alot less than that. A weekend home series for us that averages 8K in attendance brings in 240K in ticket sales alone. We have series that average over 10K in attendance depending on the opponent. Women's basketball will never match that
