Essentially it's a conference full of Vanderbilt's and Tulane's. Except they are even less likely to compromise their academic standards to get players in.
Their alumni aren't going to want to compromise their Ivy League status to join say the Big 10 either and if they wanted to they would have to get buy in from all eight members and they would probably have to invite Army and Navy and convince them to join to make themselves somewhat legit. And maybe Stanford and Air Force too.
It really wouldn't be a terrible idea if you are a player who is smart enough to go to an Ivy League school for four years and play football there and then portal out to a SEC school if you are a good enough football player as well.Quote:

Just because a player decided to accept an NIL deal and the coaches wanted them, there?s still a 90% chance they aren?t accepted via the academic standards. Same thing at Army and Navy, you do not go to these schools for athletics.

A couple of times I had to quit coaching football because of my job demands in the legacy F/A-18 program. One time I could get back to Southwestern JC but I was too late and did a fill in coaching job at Lincoln HS football in 2018. Lincoln played Menlo Atherton, in the Bay Area, for your version of a 5A championship. Lincoln did a field trip to Stanford while up in the area. What did the team and I learn?
Stanford is deeply embedded in the digital and high tec engineering at a high level globally. I learned that Stanford sometimes looks the other way for tuition of underprivileged and military personnel and dependents that qualify.
Stanford monitors their football players keenly after they graduate. The University will network on behalf of the athlete to assure that the University does not loose its global elite status because of an athlete not achieving success in his or her future.
Stanford even has tech support for laptops for athletes. The University has personnel, on payroll, to assure that an immediate response is forthcoming if a laptop fails.
Stanford is so filthy rich that it demolished its stadium in November and had a replacement stadium in service the following September. Because of the brand, Stanford like some Ivy league Teams do not worry about NIL because athletics are a side gig in their scheme of things?
