I think we will have more portal success this offseason? or at least that is what I?m hoping!
Winning cures all. Plus, Parker is a reputational star. He coached U-18 levels of team USA, he will know many of the candidates. Plus he's Rotation jobs.
On the field player side, give Lemons credit for Ledbetter, Yeager, Dubrule, Hujsak, and Powell. Those are players he picked and became stars. JL3 and Davis (CF) were supposed to be depth players, not starters. He has starting CF, 3B and 1B work to offer, there seem to be lots of candidates every year.
This thread was epic last year.
As stated before, Parker has tons of before and after data from this season to show transfer pitchers. Khal, Loo, Davis, Dohm, Hardin all had massive drops in Eras and walks. We got the lab. We got the stadium. And we have playing time to offer.
Lemon needs to find some power bats.
We also need to recruit some on roster back. Mershon is borderline draft or South Carolina. Gotta keep Stevens happy and hope he is not getting home sick. Any chance we could keep Khal or Dohm who are both juniors?
Why are we worried about Mershon transferring? Is he homesick?
Lemons will have MSU top 5 next year. Book it!
C: Powell (could be back), Long (gone), Highfill (will be back if he's healthy)
1B: Hines (gone)
2B: Pulliam (will be back), Larry (gone)
3B: Kohler (gone)
SS: Mershon (probably gone), Cupp (will be back)
LF: Chance (possibly gone), Downs (could be back
CF: Hujsak (gone)
RF: Jordan (gone)
Khal Stephen (gone)
Cinjtje (gone)
Dohm (gone)
Tyler Davis (gone)
Hardin (gone)
Pico (probably back)
So we're looking at a complete rebuild. Gonna have to hope and pray current freshmen take a step forward, incoming freshmen make an impact, and we're aggressive in the portal and land some top guys which we haven't done the last 2 years. Don't give Lemon a higher buyout after this year
Can someone that is smarter than me pin this to the top of the board
THIS is why its so frustrating that we left SO many wins on the table this year and likely won't host because this was a definite up year in our talent cycle even though expectations were low coming into the season. Lowered expectations preseason were a result of two terrible seasons, not a lack of overall talent. Now next year will be a talent depleted team unless we work wonders in the transfer portal. If next year's team finishes in the top half of the league it will be very surprising. Lemonis and staff will definitely be back, and should be for the improvement shown this year over the past 2, but Lemonis may be back in the crosshairs again next year unless he can find some big time players in the portal. There just isn't much of anything proven coming back.
Kids wanted to come, had to many roster spots filled. With veteran field position starters. Still got Yeager.
But even bigger than transfers, the Fox was f***king up the pitchers. We can only imagine what a proper PC, like Parker would have done with Cade, Fristoe, Tepper, Preston Johnson, KC Hunt, and maybe even Stinnett. Even losing Sims and Simmons. I bet a decent season, ending in a regional championship or super.
If history is any indicator we'll fill our needs but we'll see if we can reel in the big fish this time that can put us over the top.
We're not worried about Mershon transferring. Him leaving early for the draft....that's a different story
I expect business to pick up next week.

Really good numbers even if it?s William& Mary

2. Carson Hansen- Milwaukee- .312 BA, 601% SLG, .404 OBP, 25 2B, 11 HRs
3. Tyler Cerny- Indiana- .315 BA, 525% SLG, .379 OBP, 24 2B, 10 HRs

8. Bryce Dawkins- Merrimack- .357 avg, 619% SLG, .413 OBP, 19 2B, 15 HRs
Just a few. No clue if any are in the portal. But we need to convince them to get in it. A few of these guys can flat out rake. Almost all are Freshman or Sophomores. Only a couple of Juniors
Louisville player that batted.330ish with 9 homers has entered the portal
Jojo Jackson from Georgia State into the portal. Hit .302 with 13 HRs but slugged .655 and had an OPS of 1.049. May be down our list a tad but could be a solid pickup for us.
Good job everybody putting this list together.
Brady Counsell from Minnesota has entered the portal. Counsell is 6-2, 205 and hit .287 with 11 homers and 36 RBIs, along with 30 walks and 16 SBs for the Gophers in 2024.
3B Aaron Lugo from TX State is entering the Transfer Portal today. Lugo, 5-8, 170 pounds, had a strong year for the Bobcats, hitting .326 with 10 homers, 49 RBIs, 28 walks and a 1.008 OPS.
Michael Ross from Samford will enter the Transfer Portal. Ross, 6-2, 205, struck out 88 batters in 96.1 innings of work and tallied a 3.27 ERA for the Bulldogs.
Texas Tech Gavin Kash and Landon Stripling. Kash is obviously a potential draft guy while Stripling has a ton of upside
Carson Hansen is entering the Transfer Portal, I'm told. Hansen, 6-1, 205 pounds, is a huge addition. He hit .317 with 25 doubles (5th nationally), 11 HRs and 63 RBIs in 2024.
