That would be interesting... Definitely a big name.
They missed on Marshall, so they are desperate to get a big name to keep the nuts...err....fans from rioting against the AD.
Bama thought their job was so great, but it really isn't.

Cadaver, I most always agree with you, but you are out of your freaking mind on this one!...
Just dig on the facilities... state of the art weight room... over 100k stadium capacit.... oh... uh, nevermind.
Alabama's basketball job is no better than Mississippi State's. I know some Bammer fans have a hard time believing that, but it's true. We made a better hire and if they hire Avery Johnson, it will still be a better hire. Just because he coached in the NBA doesn't mean that it's a great hire. Hell, half of the fans on this board can't name more than 3 or 4 current NBA coaches.
You're right, the jobs are certainly comparable, IMO... Bama's won a few more SECC & SECTCs than MSU and probably leads the head to head... but it's nothing either school should really crow about... Baseball is similar... Football is the only sport of the "big 3" where one school is dominate over the other.
And Mississippi State has been the better overall program over the past couple decades, though it's been close a lot of years.
do your homework, please... big4...
sorry, had to edit.
That's the ultimate "shitting where you eat" mistake
LAUGHABLE. It's not even close. Stick to football.
Sportscenter reporting Avery Johnson as a done deal to Bama.
Big name but has never done it at the college level. Interesting hire for sure.
According to Steve Goodman on ESPN ticker scroll, he has verbally accepted the position. Just got a feeling about it that this is going to a terrible hire for them.
Really hate that for them.***
Salty, please let me know if this data is incorrect so I don't embarrass myself further.... most came from Wiki/MSU Media Guide....

historically had. You don't hold attendance records, you haven't had the Clarks and Palmeiros, etc. You just haven't. Yes, you've been a competitive program that has had some very solid success but MSU has almost double the number of CWS appearances and let's don't even talk about atmosphere. It's like comparing our football game day against Bama's.

Geezzzz, even in baseball when the stakes are high........damn can we move to the SEC east?
