72.4MM SEC pays the bills baby!!
72.4 was the average. I don't know the exact breakdown but it could be a little more than that since OU ant Texas didn't receive full shares their first year.
Can we use every dollar to poach an elite Left Tackle?
They promised to get protection for KT, and they failed.
We can't use any of it for that. Y'all do realize that this money is earmarked for like the next 10 years in the budget for facility upgrades, facility maintenance, paying off the stadium debt, etc right?
We didn't just get a 75 mm check and not know what to do with it.
Our sports budget is somewhere around 135MM- so that check is already spent as SVS said. Flying the golf team to Pebble Beach costs money. Women's tennis flies to NC and other states. The non-revenue sports is what eats up alot of budget
Quick google:
in fiscal year 2024. Women's basketball had a $5.7 million deficit in 2024. Coach Dawn Staley's team brought in $5.8 million in revenue but the school spent $11.5 in expenses. Men's basketball made a profit of $3.48 million.
It amazes me that anybody thinks women's sports makes any money
In my twisted and tortured logic (I have a high-performing swimmer daughter with straight A's)...
I rather she swam for Washington U in St. Louis and only travelled to regional schools like UChicago, Northwestern, Marquette, Notre Dame and St Louis U for meets and not waste days and days for meets in Rutgers and Los Angeles.
It's actually preferential for a college student (I emphasize student) to never travel and be able to major in maximal subject.
