So many familiar names with great posts have disappeared recently. What is going on or not going on here?
probably just being careful...........probably more important issues to deal with
The board seems pretty active to me.
Compare it to the new ON3 (Sixpack) with number of threads and posts to these threads, especially regarding football. This site blows up for baseball. Anyone heard from Commercecomet lately? Loved his insight along with several others who have been MIA. I have started a few threads here recently, regarding football, that got five stars, with information I read on Sixpack(far more comments). or free info from 24/7 (genespage) that appeared days earlier than here.
We've lost a lot of good posters over the years. Some of it has to do with the downward trend of football. Some of it has to do with NIL and people just getting out on sports. Some don't want to only read about baseball, which is what this board turned into from February to around 3 weeks ago.
I mean I can't think of the last time I've seen a post from Kurt Rambis, Ari Gold, IYOK, Dawg61(although he got banned), Barkman Turner Overdrive, ShotgunDawg(who's Colonel Kang on other boards), etc.
ED was my go to for entertainment but really the rumors/tea/inside scoop some had. I get not wanting to post stuff that could come back to you, but that?s why I liked this board. Some seemed to have inside knowledge, or were very good pretending to.
Just went to On3 and a couple of familiar names are posting there now. Also, quickly saw and read the titles of at least 30 interesting football threads before I quit counting. I don't know how to do it, but the new uniform video of a player in tomorrow's uniform in DWS from Hail State is also posted there. This site is dead compared to them regarding football. JMO.
This board has been baseball heavy since day 1 - which was actually what has always made it different then SixPack.
Personally, I think that after 5 years of constant arguing about Leach/Rogers/Arnett/Lebby/RTDFB/Air Raid etc. or Lemonis that people got tired and turned away.
I think something that has really hurt ED is that the founders and moderators seem to have moved on. Look down at the bottom of the main page under moderators and you'll see outside of Scooba hardly any of them are still active. Hack and Cadaver pop by on occasion. Mods are supposed to help drive conversation - which is why DawgStudent, Hadad and their mods start about 75% of the posts on SixPack. That's not a knock, but it's how you drive engagement. They also now have a huge advantage with the On3 and Rivals merger being tied to national networks.
I've always preferred this board. I lurked on SPS for years, but ED was the first time I ever really got engaged and began posting.
The board has certainly fell off from where it was. It's still where I go for state stuff, but I find myself here less and less.
Glad you're back! Find some other well known ED posters lost in the wilderness with a love for our football program, especially in football season. Hail State in ALL sports and ALL ways. Heck, I would watch State play a tiddly winks game if we had that "sport", especially if we were playing OM!
BTW, can I get 5 stars for the creation and discussion thus far for this thread?***** Seriously, this has been my go to site since 2014, but getting more info from other free sites recently.
The ban happy mods don’t help. This board is the suck now for the most part
Hey man. At least you weren't on here calling for political violence with no information, just assumptions, and now looking like a dumbass with egg on your face when yet again it's the same people time and time again. That's also worth a 30 day ban.
Is what it is. ED thinks of posts in terms of quality and SPS goes for quantity. Regardless - both skew heavy on the 40+ male demographic. We aren't attracting younger generations onto posting on these boards who would drum up engagement. SPS had an eye opening thread a while ago how literally 95% of their board was 30+.
Which yea - when your primary poster is some wannabe tough guy who makes shitty nicknames, has dumbass takes when he branches outside of football, has mediocre takes inside of football... doesn't really inspire people to join/stay.
Steve trying to take that role away has been a good change. If you want a broader audience - do things to attract a broader audience.
