The Bears have a network? Sorry, I'm new here
We need to just create a new recruiting thread or someone update the target list... This thread has gotten really long without much good info
What in the target list has changed? I've updated it when a new name is brought up or someone commits.
I originally created it to track the commits and to keep all recruiting posts in one thread, but it didn't work out that way. I'm fine with it being deleted if it's not useful.
I think Hoopsdawg had a good post, there are five elite guys:
Brown
Simmons
Knott
Lashley
Kobe
Now we are after some others, Cushenbury, Couch, Callaway, Farrar, and maybe a few others.
My guess is that by the first official visit weekend we will see a number of new names get out. Just a guess.
Things will get moving after next weekend. Get yo popcorn ready.
Buckley already working. 4* WR Fitzpatrick from MI offered and looks like May OV this weekend. Was his primary at Louisville
He set an OV right away so I imagine we have a decent shot. I understand your question & knew somebody would ask. People ask us to recruit at a higher level so we start getting better players to OV & automatically think it's bad news for another player we want. People saying we need more talent well this part of it. Not caring how we stand for other kids trying to get the best 25. Plus this was a no brainer offer with Buckley being his primary recruiter at Louisville where he was committed too.
I think part of this is that the staff has to make decision when players that they feel 95% about haven't committed. We can't sit around and just assume these guys are coming. Don't read too much into that, but we are doing exactly what I would expect us to do. Recruit players that we think can help us win.
This kind of kid can help us win. Looking at our WR situation, we are a little JR/SR heavy headed into next year. I think our top 4 guys - Ross, Gray, Brown and Myles. We could use a talent infusion at WR, and I think we are about to get it with AJ and hopefully someone else. Yes, I don't consider Dear a WR. He is a HB that likes to dabble at WR.
I see R. Davis is visiting this weekend. What's the chances of him flipping by Sunday?
FYI, AU is making a move for Nigel Knott, I'm not sure if he takes a visit yet, but they are trying to get in the game.
Great post.
We are loaded at the slot for the next several years, but we need some outside WR's. "Some", not "one". I keep seeing people think we're in bad shape with AJ every time we offer WR's...but that isn't the case. If you can get 3 four star WR's, you get em! Regardless of your top target.
Besides when u look at guys we are losing this year + those that will be Juniors or Seniors next year, you're talking about Bear, Morrow, Ross, Gray, Brown.....it's time to reload at outside WR, and that's not done by getting one guy. Our fan base wants to recruit elite, let's act like we want em all & can get em all! Good post.
Hopefully T-Buck helps us do an even better job of closing. Sounds like he's off to a good start.
Are cushenberry, lashley, and Clark (juco bound, right?) the only olinemen on our board left?
Think he only meant Clark was juco bound.
Any other guys Buckley was on that might give us a look? (Not just OL, but any position)
Auburn's immediate future is a bit uncertain.
Good grief. Bit of a delay in the response. And I think my post stated it was what others on here have stated about their relationship in the past. Add that with multiple insiders on here and other sites feel our chances are still good with him. We will found out on signing day. I keep up with recruiting but don't get bent out of shape over the ones that don't sign mostly. Except for circumstances like Tee and CJ when it's obvious that underhanded deals took place.
I'm wondering if the staff is thinking about possibly playing AJ Brown at slot at least some. He's about the same size as Ross except slightly bigger. I could actually see him playing slot or outside. It's just that slot is our marquee position in our offense IMO, so I can see where that would be attractive to highly rated WR's.
That's one reason I was really hoping we would land Sullivan because then we could have Sullivan on the outside along with Jamal Couch at 6'5" and then 6'2" AJ in the slot which would be a big WR group. Especially if you add Dontae Jones in at TE/H-Back.
Fitzpatrick sounds like another guy that could play both outside as well as slot.
What ever happened to the WR from meridian that decommitted from om?
How are things looking with moon and couch?
