If he shows in the next two games that he can do it, then absolutely. He is about to be on a two game tryout. If he is as good as he, and his father, thinks he is then he should have no problem going 2-0 and leading us to 7 wins.

FWIW, Taylor put up an 85.5 qbr today. That puts his season qbr at 93.4. He doesn't qualify, but that would rank him #1 nationally. He's certainly raw, but the playmaking ability is off the charts. If we don't cater to him some this offseason, someone will
There's no college in the country that has a sure starter in the wing bringing in competition to compete to take their job.. That's not how the portal works. It's also not a recipe for success. No playoff team has done this. And before you throw out Ole Miss that didn't happen. Chambliss took advantage of an opportunity via injury and hasn't looked back.
This is what people do not want to admit, or they do not understand. Honestly understand is the more likely scenario because we have some LOW IQ fans. Like to the point of where I question whether they played past pee wee. Our O Line and Shapen are just a bad mix. That does not make Shapen a bad QB. Also it is 1000% NOT the fault of Phil Loadholt. He got here in January. Unfortunately it again goes back to Mike Leach. He recruited a different type of OL. When we went away from that, those lineman became useless. Add in to that some god awful evals from that staff and the next and we are in the situation we are in having to depend on JUCO guys, guys that need development, and guys playing out of position.
What does his father have to do with anything? It's clear you don't like KT but asinine to think we could just go out and find another talent like him. Didn't you say the FSU transfer was the backup? Wrongggggg...KT is the now and the future. I agree with his father who only cares for his son like he's supposed to.
But had Ole Miss said, “Nah we got Simmons. We are good.” They are AT BEST 6-3 right now. You go make your team better. You do not just stock say Kamario is the answer and move on. Do I think he is? Yes. Do I know it? Not at all. He could be the next Cam Newton or he could be the next Jeremy Johnson. He could be the next Hendon Hooker or he could be the next Joe Milton.
That has NOTHING to do with KT. His dad is a grown man speaking for himself. If KT hasn't said it don't worry about it. I've read his mother's Facebook post stating KT is where he wants to be. So who do you believe? Until the player says he's upset I don't worry about parents opinions.
They paid him 500K. That is not low cost transfer. He was brought in because they did have questions about Simmons. Anyone around that program will tell you that. They saw something with Chambliss. They knew that best case they had a great backup and nuclear option they had someone who could effectively run their offense if Simmons was not what they needed him to be.
It really does not matter what any of us think. I think we all want Mississippi State to win, at least on this board. Do I hope Kamario is incredible? Absolutely. Do I have questions? Absolutely. His accuracy is iffy and he makes some bad reads. But do I think he can work past that? Of course. He is a damn freshman. He was in the Mississippi 3A playoffs at this time last year. Lebby is a good enough coach to mask some of those concerns, and he did at times today. He gave him a lot of one read stuff.
I think he starts next weekend and I hope he does well and we win. Do I think it will happen? No. I think he will have moments that make us say he is incredible and moments that make us say WTF are you doing. And that is ok. He is a Freshman.
Omar was GREAT.....
Yep He is Freshman. But our 5th year Sr makes lots of stupid plays and decisions.but you never mention that. KT had 4 series and scored on two of them. Blake can’t run, he holds the ball too long, numerous times he has overthrown wide open WRs . The worst pass of the season wasn’t KT it was Shapen in the Fla game. That one play should have benched him for the season.
So what about his throw to Thompson against Arizona State? Or his throw to Evans against Arkansas? QBs make mistakes. It happens. Kamario about knocked someone’s drink out of their hand in the Gridiron Club trying to throw to Evans yesterday. It does not mean I want to bench him and put in Kromenhoek. Does it suck that Shapen makes bad decisions as a 5th year senior? You bet your ass it does. But he has also made GW throws for us. You have to take the good with the bad. Kamario will have his time. It may be Saturday and it may be next year. It will come if he continues to progress.
I understand what you're saying. However I do believe because of the matchup characteristics with Missouri, Blake gives us the best shot to win THAT game. If he is healthy and can throw effectively. We need the passing game against Missouri and don't see a high probability KT is going to make that kind of step change with his accuracy that quickly. And even if that is the play, can the OL give either one of them enough time. And then possibly more injuries on top of that. We are not in a very enviable position all around.
Shapen has overthrown several wide ass open players for TDs. When he threw that stupid interception in The Fla game 0 was running wide open down the sideline . Shapen holds the ball takes uncalled for sacks all the time. There is absolutely nothing Shapen does that Kamario can’t do better.
