The players didn't come thru with clutch hits, but the players that didn't come thru were there because Cohen totally ****ed this game up. First of all having Vickerson at the DH is just absolutely dumb as shit. How many times did he strike out and kill our momentum? Then losing Collins because we HAVE to put in Randolph to catch Lindgren(who sucked tonight too). What did Randolph do at the plate tonight when he got a chance? Struck out every freaking time he batted and failed to get the bat on the ball on a dumbass hit and run call that got Pirtle thrown out at 3rd. Momentum killer not to mention he didn't catch shit. That move alone I think cost us this game. We had the bases loaded in the 8th and the 9th. When the bases got loaded in the 8th, Walker K'd which is where Collins shoulda been, Vick K'd, and then our only hope Armstrong K'd(which is unusual). Then in the 9th we load the bases up again with one out and Heck pops up then Walker again ends it.
So the players didn't get the hits, but the coach and his management of the game is what had the players not in the game that needed to be there to have our best shot at getting those hits.
We needed to sweep this very average UT team. Instead we are in the hole again on a Friday like we started the SEC off with and will have to hope that Ross can once again come and get us a W tomorrow. Hopefully Cohen will set a good lineup tomorrow and not **** with it during the game so we will have a chance to have more than 2 hitters in a row that can actually hit the freaking ball!
I was so sick after the game I didn't listen to Cohen's post game. He say anything if substance?

Lol yes he is. Lingo wasn't a first rounder tonite.
And sometimes it rains
you as Mississippi State follows should realize by now that Cohen is not our answer to our head baseball coach. He is pathetic as a head coach. I have followed MSU baseball for 54 years and this is the most pathetic season I have ever folowred in the 54 years of MSU baseball. We are a horrible team. There is decention on this team and I do know if John knows how to solve it. I will not go back to watch this chatic display of baseball by Cohens coached team. I am in favor of looking at changing who is in charge and that includes our head coach. I am sorry to state this but I left early after the Ole Miss fiasco and vowed I would not go back until we change coaches. We are a sorry example of a baseball team. All you that think we are ok as Gene of Genes page has said are drinking the maroon koolaid we stink as a baseball team.
I'd say this, but he's mismanaged this team all season long. Armstrong gets on a hot streak... what does Cohen do? Platoon him with Vickerson... AFTER Vickerson has led off all year and has either K'ed or popped up. We had a new lineup every damn night and NONE of them included hitters. Instead of working guys like Garner and Randolph in at DH (since... you know... they were recruited to hit), we leave in the Vickerson experiment and switch them up every night instead of letting them learn and grow in a spot and making adjustments from there. We have had zero continuity this year, zero heart, and worst of all, this team has no idea who they are (ESPECIALLY at the plate) and no one to lead them, and it's strictly on Cohen.
LOL.
You say this is the worst MSU baseball team you've ever seen in 54 years... How quickly you forget the 2008 fiasco and the absolute joke of a roster Polk left for Cohen- not to mention the fact that he badmouthed Cohen every chance he got. People saying this is the "worst team in MSU history" are laughable to me. We're still going to make a regional and probably finish the season with a winning SEC record.
John Cohen is and will be our coach for the foreseeable future- you might as well accept that. Damn, the guy just took us to the national championship series LAST YEAR, which is something Polk never did with teams more talented than what we had last season.
Just a quick question for the whacko 54 year fan. In those 54, how many times have we been in a nation championship? Just curious.
Fire able offense? Nah
I did not say worst team I have seen in 54 years. I said worst coached team with the talent we have in 54 years. An old blind hog can stumble up on an acorn every once and a while. We lucked up in 2007 and lucked up in 2013. It is what it is. We will not make it bk to Omaha again for some 6 or 7 years. We do not have a consistant program to go every 2 to 3 years to Omaha like a LSU-South Carolina-UCLA- North Carolina-Rice-Oregan State. Untill we do I will not bite my tongue on my critizem of our baseball program. All you nuts that want to build a new stadium are crazy to think that the people will come if you build it, including our AD and our Head coach. Economics and local population will tell you differently. We will only put buts in stands on special weekends like SBW or NCAA Regions or NCAA Super Regions . So building a new stadium is wasting money. So put that in your pipe and smoke it. We are the worst coached team in the SEC. Our head coach has cost us 7 games this year alone by his pig headed attitude.

We just pulled 6k w about 500 students in town. How on earth is that bad attendance? That makes less sense than anything you've said. You really think we won't fill out a stadium w 8k seats and the outfield intact? It may not look like it but we will never fall out of the top five in attendance in the foreseeable future
The people already come Darryl, and we haven't yet built it
Vickerson should sit. I think he is overwhelmed by the SEC right now. He may be fine next year- may not. We'll see.
Our catchers are killing us. I know nobody likes taking Collins bat out of the lineup, but he simply can not catch Lindgren. If we keep Collins in with Lindgren, we're going to be giving away all kind of runs on wild pitches, passed balls, catcher's interference and anything else bad that can happen. The only solution is to not have a catcher that can't catch some of our pitchers or be in a position where we are starting a true freshman and a walk-on behind the plate. In other words- catcher is a lost cause this year.
I've tried so damn hard to refute this ridiculous claim, I don't even feel like responding to this statement.
We are second in THE ENTIRE COUNTRY in college baseball attendance this year. We have been in the top five ever year that I can remember. And as for people actually showing up, have you watched any other SEC baseball games on TV this season? Our actual attendance is as good or better than anyone else's in the entire country. People buy tickets and show up to games here as well as any other school in America.
Do people honestly expect the stands to be jam-packed every single game, and if they aren't, it's a sign that our fans suck? The people who think this way really need to go to some LSU or UM games. Our actual attendance is not much worse than LSU's and it's better than UM's, but yet you never hear their fans talk about how they don't "pack it out" every game- therefore don't deserve to have a nice facility.
LOL.
And no, we aren't the worst coached team in the SEC. Cohen has made some dumbass in-game decisions this year- I'll give you that. But to say that he should be fired after this season is laughable at best- at worst, it's psychotic.
Really? Let's not act like everything was awesome under Polk. Well, other than your seats with your name on it.
You're not going to go back for awhile because Cohen is going to be here for awhile. Why would we get rid of a coach that has taken us farther than any other coach in the school's HISTORY and hasn't even reached his prime and is starting to get recruiting really going to the point where he can do what he wants on offense and on the mound?
Stricklin may be dumb enough to make us wear pink uniforms, but he ain't dumb enough to fire Cohen.
IF we build our new stadium and actually lose attendance, that would be the first time I have ever heard of that happening. Ever. Anywhere. New stadiums draw people. A winning team which we are- is also going to draw people.
Don't worry- you are still going to get good seats in the new one.
We didn't luck up in 2013. Our COACH was willing to do something unconventional with our pitching staff- something that almost no other coaches would have done- and then we used two of the better players I have seen at MSU on offense to generate enough offense to get to the championship round.
And I have bad news for you- we're recruiting better than ever. We're just starting.
It's sad that we have "fans" that would rather keep their really good seats than win. Or maybe I should say insure that they are going to keep their really good seats. I can't imagine that we would screw over people that have actually been showing up for years.
Take MSU to a SR, SEC Tournament Championship, and then the NC round? Fire Cohen! He took my name off my seat!
You are absolutely correct with this post. I agree 100%. We can't continue to do this LH/RH matchup bull shit the rest of the year. Find a lineup to go with and stick with it. Cohen knew his lineup last year understood what kids could and couldn't do in last year's lineup. This year he has no clue. For instance, Vickerson sucks starting. He does a great job pinch hitting. I bet if you looked at his batting average with pinch hits vs starting it would be a 150 point difference. Same with Hump. Humphreys doesn't do well as a pinch hitter. He is however better when he gets a few at bats in him. If we had Collins and Humphreys in the lineup at the 4 and 5 spot tonight like we did last Sunday, odds are good we win the game and odds are good we score much earlier and just maybe Fitts pitches better. Bradford was the only bright spot it sounded like tonight but I think he works better in the 2 hole with Heck leading off.
This shuffling the lineup (especially the front end) probably is having an effect on our ability to be a consistent hitting team. Cohen needs to know his lineup by now but his shuffling of the lineup and how our players perform in those roles tells me otherwise.
the attendance figures are based on season ticket sales and walk ups each game, not acual attendance. You can figure that we have 5000 season tickets sales and 1000 walk up sales, so new stadium will get same attendance. Economics does not support what you koolaid drinkers think. We do not have enough population in the surrounding area to support what you and our stupid AD thinks. I am a Math major from MSU and the math does not add up, sorry. You need some 3,000,000 in population to draw from to consistently draw 7 to 9 thousand fans to each weekend game. You have to compete with 2 other major Universities as well as every other activity in the surrounding area. I hope it will work but I am not optimistic it will. I am 72 years old and do not see these things happening in the rest of my lifetime. The people at LSU thought just as all of you, that they would constantly fill up, not so as of this year. They have had their worst attendance in last 7 to 8 years. Still have season ticket sales and walk ups but stands are empty in many areas. No shows, just like it will be at MSU, ECONOMICS. I will not renew my 6 season tickets for baseball as the SEC network will allow me to watch all of States games as well as a few others and not have to drive 375 miles one way to watch a very poor coached team from my arm chair in Louisiana. I love my University but I am very unhappy with our AD and our Baseball coach and what athletics has become today. At my age I do not need to go thru the agrevation of a season like this year.
At first I thought you were saying that you agree 100% with Berryhill. I was like WTF?
I'm going to try to explain this- and bear in mind I'm not justifying, just explaining. Cohen values experience- if he can at all help it. That's a big reason why Humphreys doesn't play more. And in most cases Cohen is right about that- but there certainly are also players that CAN handle playing as freshmen as well. I think Humphreys would do OK if he played and started every day.
Vickerson is an older player- but he's not a very good player right now.
I think CT and Cody Brown should both start no matter what. Armstrong and Henderson- just depends on who is hot, but Armstrong is hitting SEC pitching better and he doesn't screw up as much.
All of you that want to jump on me, go head. I have paid my dues for last 54 years and do not need a snotty nose sob correcting me or slamming me. All of you are whipper snappers who can not find their ass from their head, I feel I can post what I want and do not give a damn what any of you think.
Also, you mentioned that UCLA is a "consistent program." Well guess what they'll be doing come playoff time? That's right, they'll be sitting at home. What about North Carolina? They're still fighting to get in this year. What about the consistent program and preseason #1 in the country this year Cal State Fullerton? They'll be sitting at home with UCLA. NC State has two first rounders on their team and are likely going to miss the tourney as well.
You need some damn perspective bud. Even good programs have rough years, and if making a regional as a two or three seed is a rough year for us, that's certainly something I can live with. This has been a Murphy's Law type of year for us, and we're STILL at least going to make the postseason and probably have a winning SEC record. Has this been a disappointing season? Yeah, no doubt about it. I'm not at all pleased with the way we've performed. But it's not like we're just God-awful and should fire the coach who just took us to the national championship series last year and is recruiting the best talent he's had since coming here.
Y'all all need to shit the **** up. Stop the pissing match. Who cares?? Accept who we are and move on with your life. I'm looking at Detz in the bar and laughing because so many of y'all are still so butt hurt over the loss. He could give a ****. I hate we lost and am pissed about the wasted opportunities, but go have a beer. Smile. We got the Egg.
