Maybe. Not sure

We are also bringing in a preferred walk-on OL from TN this weekend with Hankerson. On Thompson, the new offer that went out yesterday, per Paul he is playing in an event in TX on Sat so unless they make the trip afterward's he probably won't get to make it this weekend. He definitely wants to talk with his family about the new offer though.
We are definitely pushing all of our chips into the middle.
I think its pretty clear that Cush and Reese are in the boat. That leaves roughly 6-7 spots:
Lashley
Simmons
AJ
Kobe
Knott
OSU commit or Stallings
We either close with these six, or we don't. Im sure we have backup plans, but I think our coaches are going big or going home and saving spots for next year. Just my thought.
Stallings is out. He decommitted from So Car but we haven't talked with him much since his visit. We are choosing to not make a late push for Mason or Dantzler at all. So this is definitely a different kind of recruiting strategy for the staff. They have great confidence in who we are getting right now. If they are being mislead, then it's a bust. Like you said all the chips are in the middle.
And all the ones that have complained about the lack of signing day buzz, you had better not be the ones melting right now because this is what it feels like to go to the other extreme. Choose a side but quit bitching and being bi-polar. It you want it this way or the way we have done it in the past, decide now and help pull the the direction we are going. Don't complain about both ways now.
Steve seems to be getting info from "a family friend" of AJ Brown. Which seems to be how he gets his info so quickly. I can see that family friend playing Steve or I can also see that family friend not knowing as much as he alludes to. I like Steve's info personally, as I do not think he is a homer and gives his honest opinion, unlike OM writers who say they have the lead for every recruit, but I cant bring myself to trust his info on AJ.
AJ is a Bama/MSU battle always has been. Some folks think it's MSU some think Bama. You can make a case for both sides. Steve thinks it's Bama I can't knock him for that.
Yeah, it stinks. Really stinks if this plays out.
That said though, I won't blame the coaches for one guy. If the AJ absolutely wanted to get out of Starkville, then I'm not sure what the coaches could do, and I'm sure they tried everything.
I'm not going to say anything bad about the kid either though. I've learned that many times familiarity builds contempt and that sometimes the more a prospect knows about the school, the worse. And that goes for every school. Not just MSU.
Paul had a really good point the other day when he mentioned that their were too many local guys this year and his sometimes that adds a variable that can be difficult to deal with.
Hopefully things turn around and Mullen pulls a rabbit out of his hat.
That being said though, Paul still thinks we get Simmons, Lashley, Kobe & he's 50/50 on Knott. If we landed 3 of these 4, I'll feel like we survived to fight another day. While not optimal, it would be the best linemen class we've had in years. We would just have hit a HR in recruiting next year.
When it comes to NEEDS AJ is no higher than #3 out of the 5 left from Mississippi.
Not saying the others are more talented because AJ might be the most talented player to come from Miss in a while .
Big give me the 2 big guys , with Kobe and Knott not far behind..
