Being a career major leaguer is probably harder than any other sport to do, so if he's part of the 99% of 1st rounders who doesn't spend more than a couple games in The Show I disagree. Minor league players make like 40 grand TOPS. He was probably offered a lot to sign, yes, but let's talk about how much is removed for taxes and where 50% of the remainder would go (money, ho's, cars, clothes). A business degree from Vandy with an A-B average with the name recognition he gets from alumni will get him $150,000/yr by the time he's 30 if he puts even a little bit of effort into it. I just don't think it's as black and white as people try to make it sound. If he genuinely loves baseball and it's not about the money, he has a better shot statistically of being a major leaguer if he goes to college. If it is about the money, again, he has a better shot at being a major leaguer if he goes to college... AND he will have a fall-back degree*.
* yes I realize 1st round contracts come with a free degree, but going back to college later in life with potentially a wife and family is a commitment.
Fielders choice at 2nd. Almost dp
Ground out. Bottom of 6th
Brown at 86 pitches. Hope he can go 2 more
