Kylon Griffin, safety from Montgomery Catholic Prep, commits to the good guys.
He shows good offers. FSU, Penn State, Iowa, and Michigan State. Not sure if those are commitable or not. Seems rated awfully low to have those types of P5 offers. Here's his profile:

I never know why some 85 rated safety gets an offer and a different 85 rated one does not.
I hope its because our coaches have better information than a recruiting service with no real skin the game other than clicks or subscription sales.
Steve is waving the pirate flag. Who committed?
So was Ole Steve just a little premature or was he referring to the basketball commit?
Jourdan Thomas commits
Anybody know much about these recent safety commits?
I like how Leach and his staff address roster balance immediately unlike Dan and his friends. You can't win in the SEC with all freshmen receivers because you didn't recruit any for three years or have a class with one high school offensive lineman that qualified.
Steve is flying the flag. Who is it?
pretty decent offers for a 3 star ... looks like a good get. Hope we can hang on to him if he blows up and adds another star this season
Something I noticed - 5 private schools kids and a public charter school kid of 9 commits so far.
Seems unusual based on past years
I just think that's kind of the way things are. I know Elam went to a private school because his public school team shut down due to COVID. The private schools being inferior to public schools thing has been a myth that has been busted for about ten years now. So I think more parents are OK sending their kid to those schools to play sports.
Although I'd like to see Stone Blanton transfer to Madison Central for his senior year. (smile)
I think it probably depends on the school and where it is. Benedictine Academy in Savannah comes to mind for me. They cherry pick athletes from around Savannah and put them on "scholarship". They also play in the public-school GHSA at the AAA level instead of destroying the other small private schools in the GISA along the coast like Frederica Academy here on St Simons. They produce D1 athletes regularly. BA regularly beats 4A -7A teams across South Ga. Kids from private schools like BA I think are a bonus and are used to competition at a high level.
Jaheim Oatis to Bama.
DL / LB/ DB / and OL are looking Good and could all be very good in this 2022 cycle..
Props to the staff so far..
Any opinions on the new director of recruiting?
Seems good to me. I like that he has been at Arizona where they have to use a similar recruiting model as MSU but he's also been at Michigan where they recruit well and he probably has some insight on how bluebloods recruit and what they put into it- which is what MSU really needs as far as recruiting. Because to be honest I don't feel like we put as much into recruiting as we could or should. And I think it's more of a "we don't know" issue than anything from the administration standpoint.
