Congrats to Lindgren....even though it wasn't first round...
That 55th pick by the Yankees was their first pick in the draft. That tells me they are planning on bringing Lindgren up asap. I'm rooting for him but I just don't see him being ready for that stage that quickly especially with him not having a clue where the ball is going. He does have absolutely filthy stuff though. He's Mitch Williams 2.0
Just an FYI: I won't be doing a draft PBP for today. I'll try to highlight a few big players if I can.
But you were adamant about him being in the first round....just say the words...I WAS WRONG. You can do it. Be strong.
I said at the time no way in hell he was a first rounder. I was wrong about 8-9 but at the time he hadn't done shit and I stated he would have to show lights out stuff to jump up. And he did and proved me wrong. But I told you there was no way anyone was going to use a first round pick on him as a reliever. He may end up be a lights out closer and I had heard word the Yankees weren't going to pass on him if he was there with their first pick..Pat McMahon is very high in their scouting department and LOVED him. I truly hope he can harness that 5 cent head to go with his million dollar arm. Otherwise it's a wasted pick.
So if the Yanks had a 1st rounder they would have taken him then..
Damn Will, you saw this shit coming last year whenever everyone said he's nothing but a head case. You also called for Heck to start in February when nobody knew who he was.
And he still is a head case. And you saw him going in Round 1. He didn't. Say the words.......
Can we stop with the 'headcase' crap?
1) It looks terrible for State fans to constantly call our own headcases.
2) It likely isn't true, and we certainly don't have any way of knowing. He struggles with command at times, and his stuff works better out of the pen where he can go more max effort and only worry about throwing two pitches. That's what we know. More than likely, he's going to fly up to the majors and have a fantastic career. And we'll look back and see a bunch of our own fans calling him a headcase. Phenomenal.
I hope he does have a great career. Will say the words......
Is it going to hurt his feelings? If so then he is. I'm making what I think is an educated observation from my baseball experience and I think he has to get mentally tougher. I promise you our staff talks about mental toughness. He needs to get some. And we could have used him having some. I want him to become Billy Wagner. He has a long way to go in things that don't have anything to do with his rocket arm.
I'm not accusing him go being a bad kid or some piece of crap. It's the same thing as when a talented football player always seems to get nicked up and saying he is soft. Well Lindgren appears soft.
I didn't say it would hurt his feelings. But it looks terrible for the fanbase.
If you think he needs to get more mentally strong, I have no issue with that; that's a potentially legitimate assessment. Calling him a 'headcase' is another thing entirely. I wish our fans would stop doing crap like this in all sports. Game threads are the worst.
I think will and seen it need to have a feats of strength / chili cook off / beer contest at the USM game. Proceeds go to server fees.
Is the draft on tv today?
Thx, found it, they are streaming it live and free on there. http://mlb.mlb.com/home
R3 P88 Chris Ellis SP Ole Miss LA Angels
LSU commit Bobby Bradley C, Gulfport goes R3 P97 Cleveland Indians
Say it.............!!!!!!!!!!!
Lindgren was just quoted "I want to sign as soon as possible and begin my journey." Just cost himself at least 100k. Don't say that out loud dude.
He wants to make to the big leagues this year. I for one hope he does and apparently most people in MLB circles thinks he will. I just don't understand how some people on here have thrown him under the bus for the way the season ended. You guys calling him a "head case" don't have a freakin clue.
Holder to the yanks 6th rd
DAMNIT!!!!! As a red sox fan that makes 2 I cant root for now when they make the big show.
I didn't throw him under the bus. It's been a 3 yr repetitive thing. He's goofy so maybe head case is a little much although I don't think I termed him that way originally. He's been considered that by others an it stuck. Now I think he better grow some damn stones real fast because if he is gonna do the things we all think he can then he is gonna have to get tougher real quick. I hope he does. I'm pissed for us that he didn't do it the 3 yrs he was here. ONLy thing that held him back from being a top 5 pick.
