I think Mullen is trying- I just dont think there is alot of talent on the field. If he wanted to win short-term- Damien is a better answer than Fitz. Fitz is the long term answer in his opinion- so bite the bullet now and let him grow.

IIRC I don't believe this is correct. Orgeron was gone regardless. In fact, they had made the decision much earlier in the season. Losing to us the way he did just fell into their lap and made it so that they didn't have to deal with any potential flak from firing their coach that had just beat their rival 21-0 on the road.
I do not want one of these Big 12 mindset coaches unless it is made clear that this is not Texas HS (Overrated) football. We will need to pay the $$$ it takes to get a top notch DC and he will be set free to steal, kill, and destroy. If we can't do that, I don't want any coach that has had anything to do with the Big 12.
See previous quote and reply. Agreed.
Exactly, the product we are seeing today is unacceptable given our recent history. How the 17 did Mullen let this happen? <<<rhetorical
I didn't want to believe this but more and more I am seeing that this is very likely true.
^^^This guy get it
I wonder how many times recently he has said execute or some derivative thereof. Croom used to say that a lot.
"Lack of execution" = coachspeak for "I don't have a clue how to teach/motivate (coach) these kids"
If this is true then it somewhat confirms that Dan is too dense and/or arrogant to see, much less admit, his own mistakes. The truth is we could've beaten both Bama and Ole Miss in 2014 with a better gameplan and if Mullen doesn't go scared, vanilla, and butthole puckered on us. So, it seems he is correct.... MULLEN couldn't win the West and the SEC with a Dak in place....but somebody else could have. He's right about himself...but not right about MSU.
Probably would have been nice to post something of significance which most of us did not already know. Your analysis in the past has had a little more "meat".

This is spot on. We should have won the West in '14, but Dan tucked his wiener in the Bama game and mailed it in after that. He needs professional help.
I agree on all this and especially what's in bold. Dan lost both those games in my mind. If he had taken those lessons and figured out what he needed to do differently (which is what I hoped he would do) then things would be different now IMO. Head coaching just ain't execution, it's motivation and preparing teams psychologically to play. See Bryant, Saban, Meyer, Krzyzewski, etc. Bum Phillips said of Bryant "He can his'n and beat your'n, and your'n and beat his'n".
It sounds like Dan is convinced he needs elite talent to win West and while that helps, it didn't really help Miles. Sure he won NC in 07, but he lost 2 games that year and SEC had a stranglehold on a BCS bid due to Slive at the time. See Auburn 2010.
I don't believe elite talent at LSU will help Dan get over the hump. Put him at LSU and he'll still turn over DCs and lose 2 games a year - unless he will admit there are still some things he needs to figure out and then figure them out. He's good for at least 1 - 2 losses due to poor game/clock management. Their East rival is FL, not KY. Saban will still own him. And we'd get the where we had a better chance to beat them than we currently do ****. Sounds like a recipe for 2 - 3 losses a year to me.
At the very least he needs to be forced to make staff changes. Things will begin to take care of themselves after that.
