Vandy Game 1 Thread

We cannot lose TA to injury. That would be worse than any loss

So who is up next for Vandy?

K on a Floating curve over the middle of the plate. This dudes rep is in our head. Hit that cheese out of the park.

This experience should help Stone Simmons down the road, so that's one positive from this game.

It's really stupid by the ncaa to let this go on. Would Vandy fall of the map if they leveled the playing field?

How different is this game if skinner can make a HS level catch?

So we put the bat on the ball coming out swinging, then now we are all looking to K. Got to put the ball in play to make up 3.

Also, since we swung early in the count innings 1-4, kumar is sitting through 6 with like 60 pitches.

Pretty different. How different would the game would look if 3 of our batters were not automatic outs against Kumar.

Kumar is a great pitcher. Hitting him is really hard. Catching a routine ball though is easy.

Another thing, our best hitters need to look curve on first pitch. Unless he Ks the guy before you. He follows that up with a quick fastball.

We hurt ourself not looking at a lot of pitches. I mean if you love the pitch, swing. But he will go all the way now will us swinging early. He can pound the zone now, too, with a lead.

So Kellum Clark just struck out on ball 4 but I liked that AB. He took a couple of good hacks. If Lemo is going to pinch hit Clark for Hatcher there, he might as well start him.

So we get Leiter tomorrow. He's 7-0, 0.98 ERA, 94 K's in 55 innings. .094 Batting average against!!

I might of went ahead and made a pitching change to start the inning. Give that pitcher a clean start. Simmons was very good but thought 3+ was as good as you could hope for

Great job Stone. Saved some arms to help us win one or two out of this series.

I'd love to see us start Cumbest in LF and Clark at 1B the rest of the year. Both will struggle for a while, but they could be good by Regional time and both guys can run into a pitch and drive it out.

not gonna happen. he'll throw 150 pitches if needed and won't lose a minute's sleep over it

Ok, I'm not 2nd guessing. I'm first guessing. Weird decision by Lemonis there. Patrick is brought into the game to get you a ground ball so why not put the batter on first base to set up the double play? Instead we bring the infield in and give up 2 runs. Poor decison and not just b/c it didn't work.

welp... try again tomorrow. Hope for Bednar to have a good bounce back game

Yeah. Not sure who next hitter was but the guy up to bat was a .220 hitter.

Hope TA is ok. Looked gimpy running to first to me.

This is like watching a semi pro team play a college team. They have used that loophole to put a stranglehold on the SEC. It’s almost unwatchable as an opposing fan.

Fast, pitiful game. We were completely overmatched.

It’s 1 game. Goal is to go 9-5 10-4 rest of the way. We are gonna lose games and look bad while doing it. Stay the course and don’t get to high or to low after any game. Hell we still are just fine
