Another stat... Shapen only has 2 career games where he has gone over 300 yards against SEC opponents. Florida and Texas.
6 total if you go back to Baylor. Those include some stout defenses. Toledo, OK State, West Virginia, and Texas State.

And netted 19 points. I'm going to make this very clear for the few of you that have the boner for the back up year after year. 48% completions will lead to not competing. That's called one dimensional. It will take all of 3 games before the SEC defense simply do what they do. Man up and spy the QB. And KT will not make it through the season. He got banged up in the one game he started.
I'm pulling for KT, there is what I consider a very high ceiling, and Lebby has a great history on QBs. But some times, things go wrong. So you will see Lebby pull in another QB in the portal.
Nobody is twisting anything. It was Lebby's decision. I got behind that. I'm not blaming Lebby for starting KT and I am not calling for his job for not starting Shapen. In short, I'm not an over the top person who gets his kicks on tearing down coaches and players.
But you do you. I'm not begrudging you that.
I don't care if it was his first or not. I don't care that is was against a play off team or not. You making excuses now? Where was your excuse for Shapen? Oh yeah.. he was not the back up.
It was made clear on here that if KT started, the results would be the same or worse. The logical reasons were given. He took as many sacks! Period. No excuses, the same average. Now, here is where we part ways. I'm not tearing KT down and calling him a statue, a loser, etc. I'm pointing out that KT suffered from the same issue that you BLAMED Shapen for. Being sacked. Let me guess... wasn't KT's fault right?
We never had a QB issue this year. We had an OL issue. And it showed up with KT too. He did not magically make those issues disappear because he ran it. It's not the way that works.
Luckily, money people saw the promise of what could have been with an OL and a DL. So we now have the money to go shopping. A better OL and we win 8+. A better DL and we take the pressure off the DBs and we win 8+.
BTW... Read what I stated again. I did not say he's capped out... LOL I clearly stated he has a high ceiling. Clearly.
Roast them!
They still can't admit that they just want a QB run around a bunch of times. Everything is an excuse. "Well his mobility means he can make the offensive line look better." It didn't. "Him running around will let the defense rest." Stupid.
And that's why the really want Dan back. Because they know he'll run KT into the ground like every other QB that Dan had too. All the while acting like a complete bitch against Alabama and Georgia. Just beat Arkansas, Kentucky, and Ole Miss and they're happy.
The promise of what could have been. Bingo.
That's all that matters now. Go get some players and let's turn this thing around. Starting with Brayland Womack! That would be huge to flip him. I know he isn't a trench guy but would be a huge momentum piece to build a class around. Dorian Barney decommited from OM today. 4 star CB. I don't know if he would be an immediate impact guy or not but I think Womack will be. We just need something positive to get things rolling in the right direction.
Jesus ****.
I posted what I heard and not a ******* one of yall added what you're hearing, just wishcasting and ****ing same old debates.
I don't ****ing care if you like Mullen or not. I'm telling you what I was told was discussed and is good to post here. Everyone latched onto the fact that Mullen was discussed but that ultimately Lebby is safe.
No one else confirmed it - so as of now, it doesn't have double confirmation and so I'm not running it as official news. If anyone has anything to add to rumors they are hearing about our current staffing turnover - post them here. actually no the posters who said re-do this are probably right.
I'm not sure if you're referring to me or not, either way it's cool. I've made it clear I do not just want a running qb. It's not a recipe for success. I want KT to become a prolific passer. Break all the passing records.
But I also stand by his mobility as being important and a huge tool that can and needs to be utilized. As I'm sure it will be. Hurts, Newton, Tebow, Manziel, Burrow, Bennet, Lawrence.. the list can go in. All these guys had 2 things in common. They could pass #1. And 2.. they are mobile. They make things happen outside of the pocket utilizing their feet. It's not 1990 and 2000 anymore and I know you know this. But your standard sit in the pocket like a statue isn't set up for modern offenses. Teams are going to offer KT big money with a capital M because of what they see he possesses in his skill set.
That's all I'm saying man. Not trying to argue or seem like a know it all on here. I could careless if Dan comes back. And I wanna win them all.
Wasn't talking to you.
But yes, mobility is a good thing. But a QB must be able to pass #1 as you said. Some of our fans have that backwards. KT missed Thompson twice and on the drives we had to settle for field goals he missed Evans twice. If those are completed we likely end up with TD's. That cost us about 22 points (14 for the two Thompson and 8 for the two that resulted in field goals). And if my math is correct that meant we should have scored 41 points. That's the difference in being able to do one but not the other.
I don?t have the sources some of you do, but I do have a guy that who told me that we were getting BOC before it ever happened. So there?s that. The same guy tells me that we have an offer in the table to Will Muschamp to be DC and are waiting on his response.
Now, my thoughts are that he?s not interested in returning to a full time coaching job yet, but that?s out there in the ether.
No. That wasn?t Bo Bounds that I got that from. It was from one of my physician colleagues who has some booster patients. FWIW.
Shapen won exactly 1 sec game, and in that game KT accounted for the same amount of tds as shapen.
Sec tds this season...
Shapen 10 (283 touches) = td every 28.3 touches
KT 10* (109 touches) = td every 10.9 touches
*if you throw out stats where Shapen started the drive, this goes to...
8 TD (97 touches) = 1 td every 12.1 touches
KT is the more explosive player and it isn't even close. This is bore out in QBR.
Exactly. Dan was not GREAT here at all. We had 1 10 win season. And todate had a better Rosters than Lebby. Even in the pre NIL error, he only had 1 winning season in SEC play. People want to relive that 1 season and think KT is it. It's like saying "HEY DAN!!! We found another DAK for you since YOU COULD NOT DUPLICATE IT IN ALL YOUR YEARS HERE... But We Found him.. We found him DAN! COME ON BACK!" WTH! Come on.
Thats truth. That is all that matters at this point. But it was SHAPEN and LEBBY who did their jobs and did them well to show the money people what can..CAN be at MSU. And people trying to take a crap on that because they get weird hard ons for Dan friggin "I want out of Starkville" Mullen.
I'm with Tater on this. If y'all want to create a megathread to reignite the Air Raid vs Ground and Pound people arguing in different form, go right ahead. But every thread doesn't have to be hijacked into the same talking points.
I don't disagree with you. Actually stated that on Friday after the game. But that's not the point. The point is, if y'all want to argue another iteration of Leach vs Anti Leach( This time it's Lebby vs Mullen/ Shapen vs Kamario) then just create a separate thread for it. I bet Scooba would even sticky it to the top for everyone.
Shapen doesnt play defense. We gave up 38 PPG in conference games.
You can post all the stats you want- at the end of the day the only stat that matters is points scored. He scored 19. 2nd worst all year. You cant statsplain that away. Will he be good for us next year? 100%. Will it be tough for us to keep him for his Jr year? 100%.
Sec tds this season...

KT 10* (109 touches) = td every 10.9 touches

8 TD (97 touches) = 1 td every 12.1 touches

If you wanna use ppg in sec play, KT accounted for the same amount in half the plays
No.
Lebby and Shapen - Great. Why? The OL sucked ass and could not block How we were even in those games with this Roster is a massive credit to them.
Mullen, has nothing to do with KT. He will never be at MSU again. He burned his bridges and we have a better coach now.
