I didn't add JUCO guys like Schuelke because the list would've gotten too long. That hit rate is much lower though

Yeager, Ledbetter and Stephen could help any team in the nation.
Dubrule, Hujsak, Dohm, and Davis would be quality on any MSU team in the last 20 seasons
Nixon would be an A, had he stayed another year
Ligon would an A, if he sticks for a big 2025 role

Fox messed up Gartman, Hardin, and Davis in 2023. Like he messed up Stinnett, Hunt, Fristoe, Tepper, and Cerantola. We can say with confidence that Hardin and Davis are radically different players with Parker, just imagine Parker's bump on huge prospects like Fristoe and Tepper.

The thing about the portal is your pretty limited talent wise as far as the actual pool of players. Sure there is always going to be a Paul Skenes, Tommy White, Braden Montgomery Team USA type of guy in the portal but there are really just a handful of them and there is always a ton of competition for those players.

The vast majority are guys looking for playing time meaning that they are mostly just typical players meaning you can help your team if you get the right ones which we mostly have done for the most part. But there aren't very many true superstars like Montgomery. So our fans get upset because we lose out on a guy like Montgomery but the reality is we're actually doing a pretty solid job in the portal overall.

Recruiting high school players is always going to be the core group of any team even in this era IMO. Dakota Jordan, Hunter Hines, Mershon, and etc. are guys you can build around.

JUCO is good for filling out the bullpen and the bench and we've done a good job there too IMO.

NO ONE should be mad that we are doing well, and I do not think anyone is.

There is NO proof one way or the other that another Coach could have this group of players performing at the current or even a better level if Lemonis had been fired last year after 2 years of FAILURE!

This is correct. When you are supposed to be top dawgs in your sport, there less superstars out there that can help you. Now we have been down lately and our pool was probably a little bigger to choose from. But like Bama football, there are less players in the portal that will improve your team. But with MSU football, some non-starters at big time programs could help our football team, unlike baseball imo. It’s like you say about baseball, if you can’t get in on any of the studs, you have to be pretty selective and hope you hit on the right ones.

You just picked 1 year. His last 5 recruiting classes ranked 8th, 11th, 3rd, 6th and 12th in the SEC. He has to be better than that. And we are seeing the results of his 6th ranked class this year which correlates to our 5th place in SEC.

Love what he has done this year but is the last two years the outlier or this year? We will find out in next year or two. Definitely rooting for him though.
