When the ump called the horrible strike 2 on Cumbest I knew a CB was coming next and he was gonna strike out.

That pitcher they brought in has gotten shelled this year and he made us look dumb on minimal pitches lol

Why do college baseball umps have to be so horrible? That 2nd strike on Cumbest was over on the opposite batter's box line. Turned an obvious 3-1 count with the bases loaded into a 2-2 count where Cumbest had to protect on a diving breaking pitch.

It's really bad, but at least it's consistent. We've benefitted from his horrible calls tonight, too.

Smith retires the side in order very quickly. I'd give him a shot at one of the weekend starter spots.

I think that's a good point. The 3 starters really don't have enough equity built up to hold on to their starting roles for very long.

If Brandon Smith started this game it would be 1-0. Macleod has looked like a midweek reliever this season. Sims, Smith, Fristoe (or Bednar if he gets healthy and proves he isn't horsesh*t) would be a decent weekend lineup.

All you really have to do to beat our lineup is throw strikes. And LH pitching will be our kryptonite all year.

I mean, our ace has been awful this season. Our Saturday guy can't throw strikes. Our Sunday guy hasn't pitched an inning this year.

Nobody is worried about this game. I'm sure we'll win, too. If we lose it really doesn't matter, but there is reason to be worried about our starting pitching.
