Yea that was head in the ass. I could understand it with 2 outs but we would have had 2nd and 3rd with 1 out.

Not anymore. It used to be that way, but the NCAA now seeds all of the 1 seeds 1-16, rather than just the top 8, and considers all to be national seeds.

You can see in these articles when the NCAA refer to "national seeds," it's talking about 16 of them.

Call it whatever you want but you want to be top 8... 9-16 you will travel for super regional if top seed you are matched against doesnt lose.
