I think it was more about having control of the Ole Miss athletic dept. Boone was one of the old guard and from what I understand I think he was probably OK with cheating some but I also think he knew that going overboard like Ole Miss did in 2013 would cause them huge problems and he was against that. Unfortunately for him the Network runs their AD and so he had to go.
