The good news for us is that the SEC is not very good as a conference. So going with a youth movement is not waving the white flag. I think we need something like:
Hubbard
Epps
Ali
???
JDF
I don't know who you'd put at the 4. I'd be ok with Walker there. I'd also be ok with moving Ali to the 4 and putting either Macura or Paul at the 3.
Ali is just inconsistent. His shot selection is really bad. He needs to watch 1000 hours of Brandon Ingram tape and learn how to play like that. He's trying to play like Kevin Durant right now.
Macura is working back from injury and still adjusting to the physicality of American basketball.
Thankfully, we have another 4 weeks to talk about Football! And after that it will only be 42 days until baseball starts! Enjoy the women playing basketball. They will struggle against the Top SEC teams, but are still fun to watch. The men?meh?. Not so much.
Was at the game with family and friends. Ahead, 61 to 60 and had two fouls to give and Jans didn't use them to take time off the clock for SF to have less time to score. We then foul the shooter with 9 seconds to go.*****
Jones started again, got 36 minutes, 4 points with a fantom tip in and missed all his "Dr. J" three attempts. With a healthy Hubbard, we probably win (Jones put him out.*****BTW), Jones also had a very lazy in bounds pass, followed by watching the SF player dunk after the "steal" with 9 seconds to go. I said from Day One if he is a starter, this team is doomed. He is a energy 5 to 10 minutes off the bench guy at best.JMO.
1. Jans was yelling at them to foul from the second that guy started driving. Just bad communication. That's on Jans ultimately but he wanted us to foul right there.
2. Completely agree on Jones. 15-20 minutes OFF THE BENCH MAX. Him starting is basically playing 5 on 4 on the offensive end.
I have to believe that we will start Epps, Hubbard, McGhee, Davis-Fleming, and Ballard/walker Saturday. Bring macura, Ballard/Walker, and jones off bench. Maybe achor and Warren sparingly
Any update on Hubbard?
