He was 10 years ago. He's not anymore. He hates recruiting and absolutely despises NIL. We should've gotten rid of him last year and I still believe that was part of the reason Dancy was brought in. So we could take Turner off the road for recruiting and just let him coach. But even that doesn't seem to be working this year.

I took it as him saying if Lane didn't sign the extension then that the writing was on the wall in terms of what Lane was thinking. That if that extension is not signed, Keith would start vetting candidates through backchannels. Because OM would be very interested in hiring Jon Sumrall too. I also think they'd make a run at Eli Drinkwitz.

I think next week is the lynchpin week for them. It's the bye week and directly after Florida. There are already rumors that Florida boosters are flying in today and tomorrow to meet with Sexton in Memphis. It will be a very heated atmosphere in Oxford Saturday night.

You know more than me so I?ll concede that point. I believe unless the dude is Jeffrey Simmons in HS, just get someone from the portal. High school kids are less important than they have ever been IMO

So we could hear during the bye week that Lane is moving on to Florida? That would be crazy.

It is not like signing an extension would prevent him from leaving anyways. Extensions are blown out of proportion.

He doesnt recruit like he did 10 years ago but it's also changed to where money is just as big of a reason to get a kid as who the coach is. Turner teaches DL technique as good as anybody

The issue is Turner has struggled at recruiting the top high school linemen in Mississippi and he hasn't been great in the portal either.
