Quick scores on short fields for the opponent equals lots of plays for us. They are averaging 6 a touch we are averaging 4.7. 4.7 can win you a game, if you don't turn it over 50 times.

Mullen did not cause 5 t/o's! For Pete's sake, without the t/o's we probably beat their asses today in Columbia. Yes, we made some big mistakes, but Mullen put our guys in position to be successful today. Our players lost today, not our coaches. SCar needed at least 3 of those t/o's to beat us today.
dan is awesome!!! Lets extend that contract asap before someone else grabs him up!!!! **
I complain about the weirdest shit? The refs sucked it up that game. How is it different then you guys complaining about Dan Mullen? This whole message board is based off complaining.
Look, for those of you who complained about the play calling. You can't play call for 5 turn overs. Personally, I thought the play calling was decent. If Dak doesn't fumble the ball to start the second half, this is a different game. I still think we beat Arkansas and Ole Miss to get to 6-6 and go to a bowl. The difference in this game was 5 TO and 20 points to USC. If we don't turn it over, we win by a couple of touch downs period. We didn't give up and that is a positive. We just need Dak to continue to improve. We drove on them all day long. Clausell was awesome against Clowney. We neutralized him for the most part.
First, I didn't say, "If, then". I responded to the folks who want to pin this on Mullen & the coaching staff. I'm as upset as anybody else about the loss, but let's be smart about this and put the blame where it belongs. It's essential for deciding how to go forward.
While the way we lost has nothing to do with standings or overall record, it absolutely does and should matter in evaluating where we are and where we need to go. We need to properly identify what needs fixing in order to be successful in the future.
I place the Auburn loss on Mullen. Hell I place a ton of fault on Mullen for previous game performances the past 2 years. But today's game was not a Mullen screw-up IMO.
I disagree. Dak threw 43 passes today. Let that sink in. We have a sophomore QB that we all know runs better than he throws, and we send him on the road against the best pass rushing team in the ****ing country and make him throw 43 passes?!
We averaged over 4 yards per carry on the ground today and we made our QB throw 43 passes. Thank God he was able to complete 28 of them, or it would have been even worse.
I agree Dak had a shitty game, but when you ask him to throw 43 passes on the road against SC, you are setting him up to fail. So no, Mullen doesn't get to skate on this one IMO.
No excuse for the turnovers, but no excuse for not running the damn football either.
And at the end of the day, the buck stops with Dan. Accomplish something before this game and it is easily overlooked. Shit the bed against anybody with a pulse all season, and this type of performance will draw more criticism. Nature of being a head coach in the SEC making millions.
