Freeze should do well with the shady areas of MS
I know nobody is really committed until names hit the dotted line and they're waiting to see who is announced too, but of our list of commits, whose commitment is likely solid regardless of the hire?
I think based on the current state of our roster that we can't predict what signing day looks like. Depending on the coach we hire, we may go heavy portal or we may do a mix of portal and HS guys. I don't think our current class has a ton of instant impact guys. We will need instant impact guys for next year.
Now a new coach may realize that the best way to go is to punt on next year and that the hill is too high to climb and not waste our NIL war chest to go 6-6 and maybe focus our NIL money on HS kids and maybe a few portal guys that allow us to be competitive next year while we rebuild.
Sun Belt Billy's famed recruiting class may not save him. They lost another big time commit today after losing the kid from Picayune this weekend, and he is projected to lose another one to Ohio State soon.
If his recruiting class falls apart, he may get fired after FSU beats the brakes off him.
Bellazar and a scrub
We are going to be gutted at WR and unable to recruit them like we were before Leach. None of these "candidates" are going fix that.
This roster is going to get smoked with exits but most won't be a problem. Be curious to see what the new coach does with the roster. Next year is a massive rebuild like we haven't seen in awhile. Got to hope for a first year similar to Mullen's where we see growth. We don't even have the talent we had then.
The 2009 team had a bunch of NFL players on it and Croom handed off to Mullen the best recruiting class in the last 20 years to him. I mean:
Banks
Boyd
Bumphis
Fletcher
Gabe Jackson
Pernell
Ladarius Perkins
Skinner
Slay
Chris White
Nickoe
Holy hell was that a class.
According to Genespage, offensive tackle Alex Lopez,a 6'7 250 pound OT, ranked .85 number 39 in Mississippi, from Bayou Academy, Cleveland, MS has committed to us. Is this a PWO, BTW, does this disaster of a staff even need to take anymore commits unless they are a 4 star or high 3s. New staff is going to have enough issues with recruiting as it is. He is not listed in our 16 commits for 2024.
he needs mucho work, diet weight gain etc. might be a player by his RS JR yr-maybe
