No doubt about it.

Some Ole Miss fans calling for a new coach before their first game is even over!! LOL!!
Isiaih Mosley isn’t even starting for Missouri. Wow. They scored 97 points, and I assumed he’d have 20 or so. He only scored 7.
Yes, Issac. Went to game, much better second half, better D, ran full court press entire half, ran O through Tulu. Moore very good off coming off bench. Jeffries played under control, not like a bull in a china shop. Tulu big double/double. Matthews, tough on D, glue guy you need. Not much yet from new guys. 25 point turnaround from 1st half. Played as a team, good start.

Matthews...
4 pts 6 reb 3 assist 3 steals 5 blocks
I love that stat line.
Glad they turned it around in the second half! I?m used to them losing it in the second!
Akron won't be an easy game either, they went to the tourney last year also and lost by 4 points to #4 UCLA. They also beat South Dakota State last night, SD state went 30-5 last year and bring back 3 starters from that team. Hopefully we can get some nice early quality wins against teams that will probably be in the tourney and not limp into SEC play like we normally do.
Shawn Jones is a guy that will only get more comfortable this year, and have nights where he cannot miss.
Positive start for sure.
100% he can!
Not the cupcake opponent you would like to play opening the season with a new coach .. a ncaa tourney team that retuned 5 starters but a very solid win
First half was bad . Shooting terrible and way too many turnovers
Played a bunch of guys, I’m sure Jans will continue to do this a few weeks to see who he can go to war with come sec play . I doubt we go deeper than 9 guys
We still don’t have a shooter.. I just don’t understand why we can’t find or recruit a guy that is a shooter that can get hot and knock down 3s
Tolu HAS to stay healthy and stay on the floor .. I hope he is in great shape
Looks like DJ might be the player we thought he could be. Looks more comfortable I wish he would look to score more . Driving to the basket
If Shaq can just shoot 30%-35% from 3 that would be such a bonus and needed terribly
Hustle was there / defense was there .. I don’t care who you play if you hold them to 14 points in a half that’s a great effort
With Jans, I was told by a big time college basketball guy that we hired the best X and O coach out of all the coaches hired in the SEC. The one big concern he was worried about was could he get the players here he needed .. and this wasn’t a state guy that told me this
NIT would be solid season IMO
We do have to play Tenn twice .. but I think we get arky , uk, and Aub just once
Not sure the sec will be as tough top to bottom as previous years
Might be a good bit of separation between the top 5 or so teams and the rest of the league
And regarding the Hump , what an absolute disaster . No reason to be that far behind in the renovations .
Eric Reed Jr. and Shawn Jones can supposedly shoot the ball good, its hard to judge off one game so I will keep an eye on those two. Shak and DJ Jeffries both have the potential to be solid shooters as well. DJ in particular needs to step up and be the aggressive perimeter offensive guy that we need. Right now we have no true perimeter scorer that can take the game over, the potential is there for him to be that guy, he just has to go get it.
I worry about our post depth, when Tolu sits we have no post presence at all. Will Mcnair brings size but that's about it.
Right now Jans is figuring out who he can rely on, our defense and rebounding look really good, if we can get some consistent scoring we will be a tough out for everyone. I do worry about the future and his recruiting, the guys he brought in didn't impress me in game 1 and the guys he signed next year are all 3 star players and below with minimal offers. He's gotta recruit better to be consistent in the SEC.
Post depth is a real problem. The offense is Tolu. Jans will have to hit the portal hard and find someone to replace Tolu and has to find a scoring guard. Like absolutely has to find a shooter.
Good to see us mix things up defensively but pressing that much against a low major team is concerning. However it was nice to see an adjustment.
As for the hump?yikes. It?s a shitshow.
Does anyone know if a bar in the district will be streaming the game Friday?
Akron is going to be a really tough win on a nuetral court. If I recall they won the MAC last year and have some key players returning. This honestly might be a tougher game than Marquette
Don't know of any bars that will be streaming it, but these are the different ways you can watch it for free.

Why all the love for DJ??? That guy has not done one thing impressive to me in an SEC game. Never shoots consistently from anywhere on the court, and has never defended well. Maybe, he kills it this year, but up to this point, the best game I saw him play was vs MRA at Oxford HS when he was a sophomore?.he was dominant bc he could out athlete everyone on the court. Please be better!
